Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roderick Wells!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladislav Vasilevsky!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasilevsky moves to clinch but Wells breaks away

and Wells counters with a takedown into side control.

Wells goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Vasilevsky rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Wells's guard! Nice work there by Vasilevsky!
Wells trying to control the position.
Vasilevsky must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wells keeping moving, preventing Vasilevsky from controlling successfully.
Vasilevsky is stalling in the full guard.

Vasilevsky shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Wells might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Vasilevsky is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wells sees it coming and defends easily.

Vasilevsky stops Wells from getting back to his feet.
Wells really is a fat lump.
Vasilevsky wants to control but Wells is keeping him busy.

Vasilevsky stands up out of the half guard.
A good leg kick by Vasilevsky.
Vasilevsky throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Wells counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Vasilevsky drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Vasilevsky is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wells knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vasilevsky wants to control but Wells is keeping him busy.

Wells holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Wells is working to avoid the ground and pound but Vasilevsky connects with a decent elbow.
Wells regains half guard there - taking advantage of Vasilevsky's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Vasilevsky is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Vasilevsky seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Wells is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wells pushes Vasilevsky off but Vasilevsky dives into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vasilevsky has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Wells!

Vasilevsky goes for an armbar but Wells turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Wells.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Vasilevsky tries to clinch but Wells moves out of range.
Wells misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Wells gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Wells is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vasilevsky defends well.
Vasilevsky trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Wells is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Vasilevsky trying to control the position from guard on top but Wells is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vasilevsky slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
An elbow from Vasilevsky crashes against the mat.
Wells wants to get back to his feet but Vasilevsky is dominant here and he's now got Wells's back!

Vasilevsky working for a choke but Wells reverses nicely into Vasilevsky 's guard.

Vasilevsky is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Vasilevsky is trying to control the action in half guard but Wells is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Vasilevsky has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wells is looking to escape.
Vasilevsky is looking to take a break and control but Wells is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vasilevsky is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Vasilevsky missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Vasilevsky wants to free his trapped foot but Wells is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Wells is not content to let Vasilevsky control the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vasilevsky stops Wells from getting back to his feet.
Vasilevsky is trying to control. Wells wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wells is trying to stand up here but Vasilevsky is controlling him well.
Vasilevsky looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wells with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vasilevsky trying to control the action but Wells is working from the bottom.
Wells is trying to stand up here but Vasilevsky is controlling him well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Vasilevsky. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wells fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Vasilevsky checks it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vladislav Vasilevsky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Vasilevsky closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Vasilevsky in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Wells can't do much from the bottom here.
Wells is not content to let Vasilevsky control the position.
Wells pushes Vasilevsky away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Vasilevsky gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Vasilevsky is just content to waste time from the top position. Wells takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vasilevsky looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Vasilevsky manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wells on his heels. He'll look to pass Wells's guard now, I'm sure.

Wells kicks Vasilevsky off and gets to his feet.

Wells wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Vasilevsky manages to pass to side control.

Vasilevsky looks to land a strike but Wells avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Vasilevsky postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Vasilevsky drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wells dives on top into guard.

Wells is thwarting Vasilevsky's attempts to control the position.
Wells prevents Vasilevsky from improving his position.
Vasilevsky is refusing to be controlled, as Wells sits in half guard.
Roderick Wells has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vladislav Vasilevsky is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vasilevsky is controlling Wells's trapped leg to prevent Wells from advancing to side control.
