Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paddy Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brutus Beefcake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brutus Beefcake has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Paddy Ward's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Paddy Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brutus Beefcake!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beefcake takes one to the side of the head.

Ward fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Beefcake, pushing him back against the cage.
Ward lands with a left to the head.

Ward breaks the clinch.

Beefcake decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Ward manages to escape and get back to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ward looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ward seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward working Beefcake over with strikes.
Ward throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ward is thwarting Beefcake's attempts to control the position.
Beefcake is looking for a sweep. Ward is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ground and pound from Ward.
Ward thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Beefcake's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ward throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Beefcake blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ward.
Beefcake is staying active underneath Ward, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ward has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Beefcake trying to hold on to Ward's head to control him but Ward postures up.
Ward lands with a punch from half guard.
Beefcake is refusing to be controlled, as Ward sits in half guard.
Ward sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Beefcake defending well though.
Beefcake wants to control but Ward is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ward has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Beefcake is staying active underneath Ward, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Beefcake is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ward pulls his head out easily.
Ward throws a strike but Beefcake avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Ward wants to control from the top but Beefcake keeps moving.
Ward engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ward postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Ward shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Beefcake's guard.

Beefcake throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ward looking to sit in guard and control but Beefcake gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ward wants to stand up but Beefcake is controlling him.

Ward wriggles free and stands up.

Beefcake bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Beefcake works to advance to full mount. Ward defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Poor strikes thrown by Beefcake there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Beefcake throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
You get the feeling that Ward really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Ward trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beefcake thowing shots but they're missing.
Beefcake controlling his opponent.
Ward wants to get back to his feet.
Beefcake wants to control the pace but Ward is squirming around nicely.
Beefcake connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Beefcake looking to ground and pound but Ward is blocking nicely.
Beefcake misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paddy Ward dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Ward drives through and clinches with Beefcake against the cage.
Ward blocks a body shot from Beefcake.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Ward has hold of one of Beefcake's legs. Beefcake is fighting the takedown attempt but Ward gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Ward trying to control but Beefcake is working from the bottom.
Paddy Ward overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ward throws a big right hand that misses.
Ward wants to control from the top but Beefcake keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beefcake can't keep his opponent in guard - Ward advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Beefcake wants to improve his position but Ward is controlling well.
Beefcake blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ward.
Ward misses with a head shot. Beefcake uses the momentum to regain guard.

Beefcake is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ward with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ward trying to control the position from guard on top but Beefcake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Beefcake looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ward seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ward missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Ward throwing strikes from guard but Beefcake blocks nicely.
Beefcake preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Beefcake keeping moving, preventing Ward from controlling successfully.
Ward throws a strike but Beefcake rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beefcake postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Ward scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Beefcake throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Beefcake, as that shot connected.
Paddy Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ward moves into the clinch.
Beefcake wants a takedown but no success here.

Beefcake pulls guard effortlessly.

Beefcake is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ward defends well.
Ward trying to control the position from guard on top but Beefcake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ward throwing strikes but missing.

Ward is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Beefcake has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Ward is looking to defend but Beefcake has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Ward! Beefcake pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Ward taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Brutus Beefcake!
Our winner, Brutus Beefcake, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
