The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mathis avoids the head kick by Sousa.
And Mathis counters with a quick kick to the body but Sousa blocks it. Sousa fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Sousa scores with a kick to the body.
Mathis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sousa to the ground. Mathis is now in Sousa's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mathis reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mathis taps out! Nice BJJ there by Sousa!
