Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adrian Holden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Samael Lucifari! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holden gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lucifari to score an easy takedown into full guard. Lucifari has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Emerald MMA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Holden has his foot on Lucifari's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lucifari works his way back into a safe position though. Lucifari working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Holden wants to sweep here but Lucifari controlling him for the moment. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Holden is on top in guard.
Lucifari really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Holden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Holden throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lucifari works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Lucifari utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holden won't allow Lucifari to get back to his feet. Lucifari working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Holden. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. That's one minute gone in the round. Holden working some strikes from top position. Holden stopping the sweep attempt from Lucifari. Holden throwing strikes but missing. Holden postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Holden with a nice head shot there. Holden postures up in Lucifari's guard and throws a big left but Lucifari blocks it. Lucifari avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Lucifari is trying to control the position but Holden postures up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Holden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lucifari looks winded! Holden bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sloppy strikes there by Holden. Lucifari is trying to get back to his feet. Holden in side control, throwing shots but Lucifari defends. Holden throws an elbow but Lucifari slips to the side and avoids it well. Holden thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. That's three minutes gone in the round. Holden working the body and head with strikes. Lucifari is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Holden tries for a kimura but Lucifari is defending well. Check out the look on Holden's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Holden gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Lucifari is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Holden lets go of the hold and Lucifari can pop his arm back in it's socket.
