Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexei Erschov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Don't Mean A Thing. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Alexei Erschov enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 27 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexei Erschov!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Alexei Erschov has been cut.
A telegraphed right hand from Nelson misses the target.
Erschov unleashes a big counter combination but Nelson bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Nelson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nelson was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Nelson throws out a loose jab but Erschov uses good head movement to avoid it.
Erschov feints the counter takedown.
Roy Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nelson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Erschov wants to get back to full guard.

Erschov actively working from the bottom here.
Nelson passes into side control, despite Erschov's attempt to control the position.
Erschov looking for a sweep but Nelson has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Erschov keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Nelson content just to control the position here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nelson continues to stall.
Erschov is looking to improve his position but Nelson isn't that keen on the idea.
Nelson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We've been hearing that Nelson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Nelson prevents Erschov from getting the reversal.
Erschov wants to control but Nelson is having none of it.
Erschov is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nelson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Erschov should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Erschov bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nelson is on top in guard.


Erschov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Nelson stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Nice combo by Nelson! Oh, that's hurt him - Erschov falls to the canvas and Nelson follows him into side control.
Erschov can't do much from the bottom here.
Erschov is looking for a sweep.

Nelson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Nelson controls the position from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Erschov is looking to reverse the position.
Erschov throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Erschov tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nelson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Erschov is trying to control Nelson's posture but Nelson avoids it.
Nelson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Erschov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Nelson stands up.

Nice straight punches there by Nelson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Nelson.
Erschov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Erschov avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nelson misses with a double jab.
Nelson misses with a few strikes there.
Erschov fails with the takedown
and Nelson counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Erschov ducks straight into an uppercut from Nelson and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Erschov manages to regain guard straight away.


Erschov is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nelson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Alexei Erschov's cut.
That's time! Nelson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Erschov shoots in and drives through. Nelson sprawls well.
Nelson throws a series of punches but Erschov moves out of range.
Erschov is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Nelson. No joy for Erschov on that attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Nelson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Erschov shoots in looking for a takedown. Nelson tries to sprawl out of it but Erschov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nelson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Roy Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexei Erschov.
Nice uppercut lands for Nelson. That snapped Erschov's head back.
Nelson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jab, jab by Nelson - just one landing.

Nelson drops his shoulder and cracks Erschov with a huge uppercut! Erschov goes down! Can Nelson finish him?
Erschov is still in real trouble! Can Nelson finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nelson content to stall in guard here.

Erschov seems to have recovered his senses.

Nelson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Nelson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Nelson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Erschov can do to turn this around?
Erschov is trying to maintain the position but Nelson is very close to passing his half guard.
Erschov looks like he's trying to stand up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nelson escapes and gets back to his feet.
Roy Nelson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Erschov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to avoid it but Erschov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nelson to the ground. Nelson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nelson swats away the attempt to clinch by Erschov.

Nelson throws a left that rocks Erschov and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Nelson dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Erschov regain composure!
Erschov is looking for a sweep.

Nelson stands up and beckons Erschov to his feet.
Erschov shoots in looking for a takedown. Nelson tries to sprawl out of it but Erschov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nelson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nelson cracks Erschov with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Erschov fails with a takedown attempt.
Erschov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Erschov blocks a head kick by Nelson.

Nelson steps into range and cracks Erschov with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Erschov flops backwards and Nelson dives into his guard looking to finish!

Erschov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nelson defends well.
Erschov is breathing heavily.
Nelson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Roy Nelson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Erschov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Nelson stands and steps away. Erschov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Nelson!


That has opened up Alexei Erschov's cut even more.
Roy Nelson is winning the standup battle so far.
Nelson scores with a jab. Erschov acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Erschov gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Nelson gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roy Nelson!
Roy Nelson decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
