Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Coyote Starrk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Houston! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Starrk's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Starrk duly obliges. Houston lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. We've been told by Starrk's head coaches at Outer Heaven Dojo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Houston blocks a jab. Starrk's jab looks to have found its range, popping Houston under the eye. Houston throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Starrk sees it coming and avoids it easily. A swing and a miss from Houston. Houston throws out a loose jab but Starrk uses good head movement to avoid it. A counter left hand to the body from Starrk misses its target. Houston lands with an uppercut that bounces Starrk off the cage and back into range. Houston listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Houston connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Starrk's hands. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Starrk moves away from the strike by Houston. Starrk lands a body shot.
Houston with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Starrk to score with a decent uppercut. Houston falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Starrk counter with a right hand. Houston fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Starrk manages to avoid it. Starrk misses with a jab to the body
and Houston counters with a straight right hand. Starrk ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Houston avoids the body shot from Starrk.
That's one minute gone in the round. A low kick from Houston misses and Starrk counters by moving into the clinch. Houston on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Houston manages to break the clinch.
Houston throws a big shot that misses. Houston needs to keep his hands up - Starrk had a free shot at his head there. Houston checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Houston scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Jab by Houston. Starrk scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Starrk throws a jab but it's blocked by Houston. Starrk misses with a hook. Houston is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Starrk. Starrk appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Starrk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Houston was well out of range. Poor timing from Starrk. A clash of legs there as Starrk blocks the low kick. Starrk connects with a body shot that sends Houston's belly button to the back. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Houston misses with an uppercut. Houston misses with a lunging right hand
and Starrk counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Houston lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Houston throws a body shot but no joy. A counter left hand to the body from Starrk misses its target. Houston fails to land with a series of punches.
Starrk throws a shot to the body.
Starrk misses with a jab, cross combination.
Houston looks like he wants to counter punch here. A combination from Houston does no damage. A big left from Starrk misses. Houston tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Starrk is able to avoid easily. Houston throws a shot from downtown. Starrk moves away and avoids it. A punch combination from Starrk misses. Starrk loads up on a big right hand but Houston slips the punch. Starrk punishes Houston's body with a nice straight punch. Starrk tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Starrk rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Houston moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Starrk walks into a stiff left hand from Houston. Houston goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Houston fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Starrk on the side of the head. Houston missing with a left hand there. Starrk was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Starrk throwing a counter right hand but Houston manages to avoid it. Houston drops Starrk with a beautiful combination! Starrk stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Houston is looking for the KO!
Starrk is rocked! Starrk throws a nice looking combination but Houston bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Oh Starrk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Houston connects with a solid leg kick. Starrk looks up at the clock. Bad move! Houston lands a right hand from hell, dropping Starrk. Houston pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Max Houston! Max Houston thanked the fans post fight for their support.
