Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Hilton Mann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, JJ Ritchie! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ritchie closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mann did well to prevent Ritchie getting side control. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ritchie connects with a nice short shot to Mann's temple. Ritchie tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Mann. Mann works his way to full guard. Good work. Mann pulls Ritchie in to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mann looking for a sweep. Not yet Mann, not yet. Mann has control of Ritchie's left arm, preventing Ritchie from doing any damage. Ritchie looking to sit in guard and control but Mann gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Ritchie trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mann in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ritchie can do anything to dispel that myth. Mann is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Ritchie wants to stand and escape but Mann is having none of it. Mann postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mann's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Mann with a flurry of punches that miss. Ritchie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ritchie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ritchie wants to sweep here but Mann controlling him for the moment. Mann landing some decent shots from guard. Mann really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mann postures up and lands a big shot to Ritchie's brow. Mann will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mann looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Mann has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mann stops Ritchie from standing up. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Mann is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A jab from Ritchie finds it's way through Mann's defenses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ritchie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ritchie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ritchie digs a good body shot into Mann's ribs. Ritchie tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ritchie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Mann makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Ritchie looks winded! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ritchie scores with a jab to the head.
Mann throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Despite the aggression on Ritchie's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Mann lands a nice looking body shot.
Mann throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mann fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ritchie, pushing him back against the cage. Ritchie breaks the clinch.
Mann keeps Ritchie at a distance using the push kick. Ritchie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Ritchie wants to clinch up but Mann keeps it at a distance. Ritchie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mann's half guard. Mann has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ritchie is on him like a limpet, forcing Mann back against the cage. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Mann as Ritchie tries to tie him up. Ritchie gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mann regains guard.
Mann pushes Ritchie off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mann closes the distance and clinches. Ritchie misses with a punch on the inside.
Ritchie tries to circle away but Mann has him pinned against the cage. Mann jumps guard and drags Ritchie to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Mann manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ritchie manages to get himself to full guard.
Mann thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Mann content to stall in guard here. Mann keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ritchie's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hilton Mann dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ritchie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ritchie wants to clinch up but Mann keeps it at a distance. Mann misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ritchie misses with a head kick.
Ritchie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ritchie showed some decent athleticism there. Mann has one foot on Ritchie's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mann moves into range and clinches up with Ritchie. Mann jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ritchie walks away with a smile on his face. Mann gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ritchie throws a head kick but Mann moves out of range.
Ritchie is breathing heavily. Mann looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Ritchie tries to counter by closing the distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mann has his takedown stuffed and Ritchie counters with a flying knee that drops Mann! Ritchie dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). JJ Ritchie!
