Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santiago Lopez has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Santiago Lopez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lopez darts in and clinches Thomas up against the cage.

Lopez manages to break the clinch.
Thomas doesn't manage to clinch there - Lopez circles away.

Thomas drives through and clinches with Lopez against the cage.

Lopez pulls guard successfully.

Lopez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lopez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Thomas controls the pace.
Lopez has control of Thomas's left arm, preventing Thomas from doing any damage.
Thomas stays in close to Lopez's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thomas postures up in Lopez's guard and throws a big left but Lopez blocks it.
Lopez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Lopez tries to counter by clinching up but Thomas breaks away and moves out of range.

Lopez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Thomas sprawls well. Thomas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lopez gets slowly back to his feet.

Thomas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lopez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Santiago Lopez will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lopez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lopez looks for a takedown but Thomas sprawls well.

Thomas fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lopez to the ground. Thomas is now in Lopez's guard.
Lopez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Thomas wants to control from the top but Lopez keeps moving.
We've been informed that Thomas has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Thomas drops back looking for a leg! Lopez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lopez manages to kick Thomas off! Thomas jumps back into Lopez's guard.

Lopez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thomas defends it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Thomas won't allow Lopez to sweep him here.
Thomas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Lopez manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Michael Thomas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Thomas turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Thomas manages to end up in side control.

and Thomas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lopez won't be happy with that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thomas seems to be working for a kimura but Lopez defends the submission attempt.
Thomas looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Thomas is trying to control the action in half guard but Lopez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Thomas lands a nice short elbow.

Come on Thomas - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Lopez has Thomas pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Thomas manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Thomas.

Lopez blocks an elbow strike.
Thomas lands an elbow inside that Lopez shrugs off.
Lopez prevents a body shot from Thomas.

Lopez is trying to stall.
Thomas lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Lopez or not.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Lopez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Thomas has clasped his hands together around Lopez's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Michael Thomas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Thomas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
