PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kshau Nish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Galagher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kshau Nish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Galagher!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galagher fails with a takedown attempt.
Nish tries to clinch but Galagher moves out of range.
Nish scores with a nice body kick.
Nish shoots in for a takedown but Galagher shows good takedown defense.
Galagher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nish sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Galagher somewhat.
Galagher shoots for a takedown but Nish saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kshau Nish has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Galagher.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A thudding body kick lands there by Galagher!
Galagher tries to close the distance and clinch but Nish swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Galagher tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nish defends well and Galagher ends up having to push Nish into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Nish half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Nish has taken the fight to the clinch.

Galagher is fighting off a takedown attempt but Nish is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Galagher to the mat. Galagher regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Nish trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nish might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Galagher wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nish is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Galagher is looking to improve his position.
Nish tries to pass the half guard into mount. Galagher knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Nish is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Galagher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nish is keen to just control but Galagher is a slippery customer.
Nish thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Galagher is refusing to be controlled, as Nish sits in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Nish closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nish lands in his opponent's guard.
Nish throws a big elbow that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Galagher escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nish gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nish drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Galagher dives on top into guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nish is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Galagher got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nish has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Galagher has managed to get both his arms back between Nish's legs - danger averted.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nish is pulling down on Galagher's head to control his posture.
Galagher engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Nish's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Galagher manages to pull guard.
Nish wants to control from the top but Galagher keeps moving.
Nish is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Galagher wants to sweep but no luck.

Galagher is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Galagher decides to stand and escape the position.

Galagher gets caught napping as Nish dives in and scores a takedown. Galagher manages to retain guard.

Galagher pushes Nish off and scrambles back to his feet.

Nish shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Nish was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Galagher is trying to improve his position.

Galagher sneaks out the side door and pushes Nish away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Nish shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Galagher as he avoids it easily.

Galagher rushes Nish and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Galagher jumps into guard, dragging Nish to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Galagher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nish being controlled here momentarily.
Nish won't allow Galagher to get back to his feet.

Galagher had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nish defends it easily.
Nish pushes down on Galagher's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Nish trying to control the action but Galagher is working from the bottom.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Kevin Galagher showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Galagher fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nish, pushing him back against the cage.
Nish trying to control the position but instead, Galagher has worked for underhooks and has pushed Nish into the cage.
Galagher is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Nish gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Galagher fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Nish tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Galagher is pressed up against the cage. Nish has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Galagher down to the mat. Galagher avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Nish misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Despite the aggression on Galagher's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Galagher dives in for a single leg takedown but Nish sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Galagher shoots in for a double leg but Nish sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Nish shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Galagher pinned against the cage. Galagher gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Galagher looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nish is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Galagher.
Nish throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nish sets himself, and Galagher steps forward looking for the clinch! Nish avoids it this time.

Galagher wants to take the fight to the mat but Nish manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Galagher gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Galagher digs a right hand underneath Nish's ribcage. Nish let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Galagher has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nish avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
