Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pookie Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Qasim Barakat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jackson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ride The Train. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pookie Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Qasim Barakat!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barakat misses the shot to the body.
Barakat circles away from the clinch attempt.
Barakat ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jackson moves away.
Jackson finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Barakat looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Jackson swings for the body but Barakat moves out of range.
Jackson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Jackson throws a leg kick which misses Barakat's front leg but catches the back leg as Barakat tries to avoid it.
That kick from Jackson tenderised Barakat's leg. Barakat is trying to keep his angry face on.
Jackson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Barakat has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Jackson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A jab lands there for Jackson.

Barakat gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jackson.

Jackson lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Jackson tries to counter by clinching up but Barakat breaks away and moves out of range.

Jackson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Pookie Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson throws a wild body kick that Barakat sees coming a mile off.
Barakat throws a head kick that misses.
Jackson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Jackson gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Barakat counters with a thumping low kick.
Jackson just misses with a punch to the body.
Barakat throws a big counter head kick but Jackson avoids it with no problem.

Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barakat moves away.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Barakat! But no joy.
Barakat takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jackson.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Barakat wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Barakat moves out of range of the leg kick from Jackson.
Barakat looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Barakat.
Barakat ducks right into an uppercut from Jackson.


It looks like Qasim Barakat has been cut.
Jackson motions for Barakat to come forward. Jackson throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Barakat avoids a kick to the body.
Barakat will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A telegraphed right hand from Barakat misses the target.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick
and Barakat counters with a thumping low kick.
Barakat moves out of range of the body kick from Jackson.
Barakat swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Barakat tries a head kick but it misses.
Jackson misses with a hook to the body
and Barakat counters with a straight right hand.
Jackson throws the kick towards the body but Barakat avoids it.
Jackson throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Barakat counters with a slapping leg kick.
Barakat lands a really nice looking cross but Jackson seems unphased.
Jackson misses with a combination
and Barakat counters with a left and a right that stings Jackson.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson misses with an uppercut. Barakat saw that one coming.
Jackson throws an off balance right hand
and Barakat cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Barakat tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jackson throws a body kick that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Jackson throws a body shot but no joy.
Jackson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Barakat throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Pookie Jackson has been cut.
Jackson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
A solid body kick from Jackson.
Barakat walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Jackson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Barakat throws a low kick but Jackson moves out of range easily.
Barakat throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Qasim Barakat will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jackson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jackson looks to throw a body kick
and Barakat cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Pookie Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Barakat thumps Jackson with a low kick.

Jackson has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Jackson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Barakat lands with an overhand left.
Jackson connects with a leg kick. Barakat looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Jackson throws out a leg kick but Barakat moves out of range and Jackson only half commits.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Barakat! But no joy.
Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jackson misses with a double jab
and Barakat counters with a right hand to the body.
Qasim Barakat seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barakat sends Jackson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Barakat is motioning to the referee to let Jackson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Jackson is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Barakat throws a quick head kick that knocks Jackson silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Barakat is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Qasim Barakat!
Qasim Barakat bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
