Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hal Burnett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerry Fisher! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burnett takes one on the button. Fisher throws a nice looking combination but Burnett bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Burnett fakes the leg kick and cracks Fisher in the body. Fisher thuds a left hand into Burnett's body. Burnett plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Burnett misses with a series of wild punches.
Burnett on the wrong end of a nice hook. Burnett walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Burnett closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fisher to the mat! Fisher manages to get full guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fisher wriggles free and stands up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burnett throws a head kick but Fisher moves out of range.
Burnett gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A frustrated look appears on Fisher's face as he tries to break the clinch. Fisher working hard to break the clinch. Burnett goes for a takedown in the clinch but Fisher prevents it.
Fisher can't break the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Burnett is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Burnett has Fisher pressed against the cage, preventing Fisher from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Burnett goes for a takedown attempt but Fisher pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hal Burnett. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fisher circles away from the clinch attempt.
It seemed like Fisher was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Fisher is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Burnett lands a nice looking body kick. Burnett tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fisher defends well and Burnett ends up having to push Fisher into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Burnett drops his hands momentarily and Fisher takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fisher keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
It looks like Hal Burnett has been cut. Burnett fails in his attempt to clinch. Fisher lands a jab. Burnett on the wrong end of a nice hook. Fisher fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Fisher lands a jab to Burnett's midsection. Fisher walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Burnett drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Fisher swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Burnett's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
