Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jesus Carlos Guntin Rodriguez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Herbert Mortensen! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guntin Rodriguez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mortensen looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Guntin Rodriguez working away. Mortensen takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
It looks like Herbert Mortensen has been cut. Guntin Rodriguez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Guntin Rodriguez is trying to get an arm triangle but Mortensen is defending well. Guntin Rodriguez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mortensen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Guntin Rodriguez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mortensen, who protects the arm well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guntin Rodriguez throws a strike aimed at the side of Mortensen's head but Mortensen avoids it well. Guntin Rodriguez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Guntin Rodriguez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Guntin Rodriguez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Mortensen gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Guntin Rodriguez wants to control but Mortensen is keeping him busy. Guntin Rodriguez slips a nice elbow through Mortensen's hands, connecting with Mortensen's forehead. Guntin Rodriguez in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mortensen tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Guntin Rodriguez!
