PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between David Luiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dixie Pablo Khakhold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 29 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Luiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dixie Pablo Khakhold!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luiz misses with a wild combination.
Luiz misses with an uppercut. Khakhold saw that one coming.

Khakhold takes the fight into the clinch.

Khakhold pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Khakhold has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Khakhold throws a nice outside leg kick.
Luiz is looking to clinch.
David Luiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Luiz takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Khakhold throws a right hand that Luiz ducks under and follows up with a left that Luiz also avoids with ease.
It looked like Luiz wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Luiz throws a series of punches but Khakhold avoids them all with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Khakhold counters with a single leg into guard. Luiz didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Luiz wants to stand up but Khakhold is controlling him.
We've been hearing good reports from Luiz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Luiz pushes Khakhold away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Khakhold gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Khakhold seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Luiz is staying active underneath Khakhold, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Khakhold might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Luiz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Khakhold seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Luiz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Khakhold is nestled in close to Luiz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Luiz misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
David Luiz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Luiz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Khakhold wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Khakhold is putting a hurting on Luiz here, landing some big shots from side control.
Khakhold remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Khakhold in particular looking to stall.
Luiz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Khakhold is working away from the top position though.
Khakhold is stalling here. Luiz is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Khakhold seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Luiz has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Khakhold is pressing down on Luiz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Khakhold pulls Luiz in close to prevent any damage.

Khakhold working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Luiz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Luiz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

I would just about give that final round to Dixie Pablo Khakhold.
I think Khakhold has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
