Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyrus Murphy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Georges! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Georges closes the distance looking to clinch and Murphy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Georges won't be happy with that. Murphy scores with a couple of short elbows. Murphy works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Georges takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Murphy working the head and body with strikes. Murphy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Murphy tries for a kimura but Georges is defending well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Georges can't do much from the bottom here. Georges takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murphy looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Georges is not in a great position here, taking some shots. You can see the frustration on Georges's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Murphy working the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murphy grinds an elbow into Georges's temple. Georges takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Georges on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Murphy lands an elbow. Murphy landing strikes. Murphy controlling from side mount. Murphy in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Georges seems a little lost for a moment, as Murphy dominates the positioning. Murphy scores with punches from side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Murphy decides to stand back up. Murphy steps back and let's Georges get back to his feet. Murphy is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Murphy looking to score a takedown here. Georges is defending well but Murphy drives through and ends up in Georges's guard. Murphy is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Murphy works over Georges with some ground and pound from guard. Murphy distracts Georges with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Murphy connects with a couple of short punches. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Murphy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Murphy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Murphy scoring with some ground and pound. Murphy scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Murphy is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Murphy postures up and lands a big shot to Georges's brow. Murphy working some strikes from top position. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Murphy's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Murphy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Georges swivels though and keeps the full guard. Georges looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Murphy chips away with some ground and pound. Murphy distracts Georges with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Murphy is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Murphy connects with a couple of short punches. Murphy trying to control the position from guard on top but Georges is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Murphy postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Murphy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Murphy passes easily into side control. Nice work. Murphy working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Georges tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Murphy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyrus Murphy dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Georges misses with a takedown attempt and Murphy counters with a single leg into guard. Georges didn't expect that. Murphy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Murphy trying to control the position from guard on top but Georges is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Murphy lands a couple of elbows. Murphy stays in close to Georges's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Murphy lands a couple of elbows. Murphy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Tyrus Murphy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Murphy is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Murphy controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Murphy content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Murphy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Georges manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Murphy has Georges in his guard.
Georges got a little sloppy there for a moment and Murphy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Georges has managed to get both his arms back between Murphy's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Murphy is trying to control the position but Georges postures up. Murphy tries to land a sweep but no joy. Murphy is working hard here to advance position. Murphy looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Georges is defending well. Murphy quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Georges has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Murphy celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
