PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Celso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arne Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Junior Celso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arne Peters!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters looks to land a combination but Celso avoids it well.
Peters takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Peters clinches up with Celso and pushes him back against the cage.
Celso wants to break the clinch but can't.
A right handed body shot lands from Peters.
Peters is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Peters wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Celso misses with an elbow strike.
Celso with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Celso could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Peters prevents the takedown attempt.

Peters gets caught flat footed, as Celso shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Celso wants to pass the guard but Peters is keeping the position.
Celso is pushing down on Peters's leg trying to pass to half guard. Peters is fighting to maintain full guard but Celso has managed to sneak the leg through.

Celso is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Peters is just riding it out for now. Celso eventually gives up the hold.
Celso is breathing heavily.
Peters wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Celso wants to pass the guard but Peters is defending well.
Celso passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Peters!

Celso moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Peters has worked his arm free - good work by Peters!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Peters can do anything to dispel that myth.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Peters is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Celso is controlling him well.
Peters stops Celso from passing to mount.
Peters is trying to buck Celso off.
Sloppy strikes there by Celso.

Celso thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The strikes coming from Celso are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Peters avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Celso tries to close the distance and clinch but Peters swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Peters gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Celso.
Peters gets through Celso's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

It looks like Junior Celso has been cut.

Peters darts in and clinches Celso up against the cage.
Peters tries to break the clinch but Celso is controlling the position.

Celso looking to throw knees to the head but Peters is blocking nicely.
Celso throws an elbow but it misses.
Peters lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Celso.
Peters works on Celso's body with a couple of short punches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Peters.
Peters has Celso pushed against the cage.

Celso swats away the attempt to clinch by Peters.
Peters moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Peters throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Peters lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Celso circles away quickly and effectively.
Celso misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Peters stuffs the takedown attempt from Celso. Celso gets slowly back to his feet.
Arne Peters is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Celso tries to keep at a distance but Peters has taken the fight into the clinch.

Celso pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nice body punch from Peters - that landed with a thud.

Celso pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Peters tries to close the distance and clinch up but Celso swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Celso shoots in for a double leg but Peters sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Celso changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Peters tries to avoid it but Celso manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Peters to the ground. Peters escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Celso throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Peters tries to clinch there but Celso circles away.
Peters wants to clinch up but Celso keeps it at a distance.

Peters blocks a head kick by Celso.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peters lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Celso or not.

No joy there for Celso, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Celso throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Peters. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

and Celso counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The ground and pound from Celso seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Celso slips a jab and a cross from Peters.

Peters stops Celso from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Celso is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Peters can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Celso is looking to work his way around to Peters's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Celso is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Peters has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Peters!
