PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Moran Elishav (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bjorn Sigurdsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elishav kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Only God Can Judge Me. Moran Elishav has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Moran Elishav!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bjorn Sigurdsson!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Elishav closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sigurdsson tries for a takedown but Elishav manages to get underhooks.

Elishav pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Elishav throws a wild body kick that Sigurdsson sees coming a mile off.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sigurdsson or perhaps it was just good defense by Elishav, which made it look bad.

Sigurdsson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Elishav is trying to escape back to his feet but Sigurdsson uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Sigurdsson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Elishav wants to control but Sigurdsson postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sigurdsson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Sigurdsson swings around for an armbar but Elishav sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sigurdsson's guard.

Sigurdsson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Elishav can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Elishav stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Elishav wants it to stay on the feet.

Moran Elishav has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bjorn Sigurdsson.
Sigurdsson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Elishav is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sigurdsson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Elishav haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sigurdsson dives in and scores a takedown into Elishav's guard.

Sigurdsson has gone for a leg lock! Elishav slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sigurdsson's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Elishav is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sigurdsson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

As Sigurdsson tries to get set, Elishav tries to push him back and clinch up but Sigurdsson manages to avoid the attempt.
Elishav darts in looking for a takedown but Sigurdsson gets double underhooks and turns Elishav into the cage.
Elishav misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sigurdsson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Elishav pinned against the cage. Elishav gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sigurdsson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Elishav circles away.
Moran Elishav has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bjorn Sigurdsson.

Elishav shoots in for a takedown but Sigurdsson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Sigurdsson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sigurdsson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sigurdsson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sigurdsson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Elishav is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Elishav is looking for a sweep.

Sigurdsson is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Elishav is trying to escape and Sigurdsson transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Elishav is forced to tap! Nice work there by Sigurdsson! Very nice indeed!
