Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gregory Gumshoe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Miguel Valdez! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gumshoe bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Gumshoe connects with a single shot there. Valdez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Gumshoe's jab looks to have found its range, popping Valdez under the eye. Gumshoe lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Valdez misses with a hook. Gumshoe drops down looking for a counter takedown but Valdez sprawls and moves away. Gumshoe misses with a low kick as Valdez jumps back. Gumshoe's jab looks to have found its range, popping Valdez under the eye. Gumshoe is looking to slow Valdez down with leg kicks. Gumshoe tries to bum rush Valdez with a series of wild strikes but Valdez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Nice shot by Valdez. Valdez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gumshoe.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gumshoe throws an off balance right hand
and Valdez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Gumshoe throws a looping overhand right but Valdez ducks down to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gumshoe misses with a body punch
and Valdez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Valdez checks a leg kick. Gumshoe lands with an overhand left. Gumshoe throws a jab when Valdez was well out of range. Gumshoe digs a good hook to Valdez's body.
Valdez clobbers Gumshoe with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Valdez on the wrong end of a nice jab. Gumshoe shoots for a double leg takedown but Valdez sprawls well. He's pushed Gumshoe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Miguel Valdez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Valdez connects with a single shot there. Valdez connects with a nice looking jab.
Gumshoe ducks under a wild hook from Valdez. This has been an exciting period of action! Gumshoe uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Valdez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gumshoe tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Valdez is able to avoid easily. Gumshoe goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. A big left from Gumshoe misses. Valdez's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gumshoe under the eye. Gumshoe lands with an uppercut that bounces Valdez off the cage and back into range. Gumshoe misses with a right hand and Valdez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. The fighters circling - Gumshoe throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Gumshoe is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Valdez. Valdez might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Gumshoe tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Valdez defends well and Gumshoe ends up having to push Valdez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Gumshoe drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Gumshoe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Valdez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdez is looking to stand up but Gumshoe isn't so interested in that idea. Gumshoe trying to control the position from guard on top but Valdez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gumshoe with a flurry of punches that miss. Valdez wants to get back to his feet but Gumshoe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Valdez misses with a hook. Gumshoe ducked under it nicely. It looks like Gumshoe has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Gumshoe throws a body shot but no joy. A swing and a miss from Gumshoe. Valdez looks like he wants to counter punch here. Gumshoe throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Valdez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A quick step to the side and Gumshoe tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Gumshoe keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Valdez misses with a hook. Gumshoe ducked under it nicely. Gumshoe attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. A slow jab from Gumshoe misses its intended target. A slapping leg kick lands for Gumshoe.
A lazy body kick from Gumshoe and Valdez counters with a straight right hand. Gumshoe lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Valdez at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Gregory Gumshoe will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Gumshoe closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Gumshoe is trying to control the action in half guard but Valdez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gumshoe thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Gumshoe missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Gumshoe scoring with strikes to the body and head. Valdez felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Gumshoe missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Gumshoe prevents Valdez from standing back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gumshoe working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Valdez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gumshoe lands a nice short elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gumshoe frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gumshoe trying to control but Valdez is having none of it. Gumshoe landing strikes from the mount. Gumshoe throws a sloppy strike and Valdez uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Valdez has ended up in Gumshoe's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valdez won't allow Gumshoe to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gumshoe wants to improve his position but instead Valdez has moved into half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Valdez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gumshoe. Gumshoe with a jab. Valdez throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Gumshoe throws a poor cross that misses
and Valdez counters with a straight right hand. Gumshoe sizes up Valdez with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Gumshoe swings for the body but Valdez moves out of range.
Valdez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gumshoe loads up on a big right hand but Valdez slips the punch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gumshoe lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. A left lands for Valdez. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gregory Gumshoe dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gumshoe wants to control from the top but Valdez keeps moving. Valdez keeping full guard, as Gumshoe tries to pass.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Valdez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Valdez throws a jab but it's blocked by Gumshoe. Gumshoe throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Valdez throws a looping overhand right but Gumshoe ducks down to avoid it. Valdez's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gumshoe connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Valdez scrambles back to his feet. Valdez on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Gumshoe with a poor takedown and Gumshoe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valdez throws a body punch but Gumshoe moves out of range. Gumshoe connects with a body shot that sends Valdez's belly button to the back. Valdez throws an off balance right hand

That's four minutes gone in the round. Valdez missing with a left hand there. Gumshoe was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Donk. Gumshoe catches Valdez right on the button with a cross. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Valdez throws a looping overhand right but Gumshoe ducks down to avoid it. Gregory Gumshoe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gumshoe uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Valdez. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gumshoe. Gumshoe is trying to ground and pound but Valdez uses the momentary lack of control by Gumshoe to regain half guard. Gumshoe controlling the action here. Gumshoe winds up and cracks Valdez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that's the end of the fight! Gregory Gumshoe showed his dominance in that final round. Well Gumshoe has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
