PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Normand Cleveland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goran Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Normand Cleveland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 87 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Goran Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwarzeneg wants to land a leg kick but Cleveland is out of range.

Cleveland tries to keep at a distance but Schwarzeneg has taken the fight into the clinch.
Schwarzeneg manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Cleveland is looking to take this one to the mat.
Schwarzeneg prevents the takedown attempt.

Schwarzeneg turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Cleveland is trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Schwarzeneg stands up and beckons Cleveland to his feet.

Schwarzeneg moves into the clinch successfully.

Cleveland on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Schwarzeneg has picked Cleveland up - he's going for a ride! Schwarzeneg dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Cleveland is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Schwarzeneg pulls his head out easily.

It looks like Schwarzeneg might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Cleveland actively working from the bottom here.
Schwarzeneg looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cleveland with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schwarzeneg controlling the action here.
Cleveland wants to control but Schwarzeneg is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Schwarzeneg has closed the distance and engaged Cleveland in a clinch.
Cleveland tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Normand Cleveland. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Schwarzeneg lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Cleveland has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Schwarzeneg after a bit of a struggle.

Schwarzeneg decides to pull guard.
Cleveland throwing strikes but missing.
Cleveland throws a strike but Schwarzeneg rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Schwarzeneg is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Schwarzeneg is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goran Schwarzeneg dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Schwarzeneg has closed the distance and engaged Cleveland in a clinch.
Schwarzeneg has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Cleveland seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Schwarzeneg can turn it around.
Cleveland is trying to pull guard but Schwarzeneg has him pressed against the cage.
Cleveland could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Schwarzeneg gets control of Cleveland's arms and successfully pulls guard. Schwarzeneg will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Cleveland has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Schwarzeneg has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Cleveland is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Schwarzeneg darts in and clinches Cleveland up against the cage.
Schwarzeneg is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Schwarzeneg has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cleveland clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Schwarzeneg just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Schwarzeneg doesn't have the hooks in and Cleveland manages to turn into his guard.
Cleveland in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cleveland trying to control the position from guard on top but Schwarzeneg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Schwarzeneg is on top in guard.

Cleveland is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Schwarzeneg working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cleveland's head.
Schwarzeneg has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Goran Schwarzeneg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Cleveland is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Schwarzeneg gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

I really don't envy Cleveland right now.

Let's hope that Schwarzeneg has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Schwarzeneg.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Schwarzeneg's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Cleveland is really stuck here.
Cleveland is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Schwarzeneg just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
You can see the frustration on Cleveland's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cleveland is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Schwarzeneg.
Yet more stalling tactics from Schwarzeneg.
Goran Schwarzeneg is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cleveland tries to escape the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Goran Schwarzeneg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Schwarzeneg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
