10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Julio Cesar Chavez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Salvatore Pellegrini! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pellegrini decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Pellegrini trying to control from Chavez's half guard. Chavez has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Pellegrini throwing strikes but missing. Pellegrini with a flurry of punches that miss. Chavez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pellegrini has gone for a leg lock! Chavez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pellegrini's guard. Pellegrini is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chavez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pellegrini isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Chavez stacks Pellegrini on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Chavez! Pellegrini is looking for a sweep. Chavez lands an elbow. Pellegrini tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chavez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Pellegrini manages to work his way to half guard, despite Chavez's best efforts. Pellegrini wants to improve his position but Chavez is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chavez in particular looking to stall. Pellegrini is looking for a sweep. Chavez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pellegrini looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Chavez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chavez in particular looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Chavez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pellegrini. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pellegrini misses with a takedown attempt and Chavez counters with a nice body shot. That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Chavez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Pellegrini tries to roll over but Chavez keeps him under control. Chavez trying to control the pace. Julio Cesar Chavez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Chavez tries to pass to full mount but Pellegrini defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Chavez thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Pellegrini if he has to take too many more of those.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Pellegrini. Chavez shrugs it off though. Chavez thows a body kick. Pellegrini tries to catch it but that hurt him. Pellegrini is breathing heavily. Pellegrini throws a lazy right hand but Chavez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Chavez digs a good hook to Pellegrini's body.
Salvatore Pellegrini is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Pellegrini with a lazy takedown attempt enabling Chavez to counter with a crisp jab. Pellegrini gets caught flat footed, as Chavez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Pellegrini wants to get back to his feet but Chavez passes into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chavez uses his free foot to push down on Pellegrini's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pellegrini. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Chavez unloading with bombs! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Julio Cesar Chavez dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Pellegrini is rocked! Pellegrini takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Chavez is in close to Pellegrini's body, working some short punches and elbows. Pellegrini is still in real trouble! Can Chavez finish him? Chavez passes into half guard. Chavez controlling the action here. Chavez frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Chavez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Pellegrini seems to have recovered his senses. Pellegrini tries to reverse the position but Chavez maintains control. Pellegrini throwing hammer fists to the chest of Chavez. What's that going to do exactly?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez controlling the position easily from mount. Pellegrini has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Chavez just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Chavez avoiding Pellegrini 's attempts to control his hands. Salvatore Pellegrini has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Julio Cesar Chavez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
