Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vernon Russell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boris Hellroq (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hellroq has chosen This Means War as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russell shoots in for a double leg but Hellroq sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hellroq fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hellroq tries to bum rush Russell with a series of wild strikes but Russell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Russell feinted with a counter takedown.

It looks like Boris Hellroq has been cut.
Russell shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hellroq sprawls well. Hellroq wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Russell gets slowly back to his feet.

Russell is trying to drag Hellroq to the mat but Hellroq just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hellroq is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hellroq with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hellroq got a little sloppy there for a moment and Russell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hellroq has managed to get both his arms back between Russell's legs - danger averted.

Hellroq must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Russell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hellroq throws a right and a left that both miss.
Russell seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Hellroq throws a right hand that Russell ducks under and follows up with a left that Russell also avoids with ease.

and Russell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looked like Russell was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Hellroq has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Russell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hellroq avoids it really well and circles away.
Boris Hellroq is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That was a close round but I would say that Vernon Russell will probably get the nod.

Hellroq is breathing heavily.
Hellroq throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Russell.
Hellroq gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Russell gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Hellroq is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
