The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eikmeyer has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Davis works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Eikmeyer has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Horrible takedown attempt by Eikmeyer or perhaps it was just good defense by Davis, which made it look bad. Davis lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Eikmeyer on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Davis. Davis obviously looking to wear him down.
Eikmeyer chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Davis can pounce on him.
Eikmeyer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Eikmeyer goes for a double leg but Davis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Davis continues to drive forward. Donny Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Eikmeyer. Eikmeyer tries for a takedown but Davis circles away easily enabling Davis to counter with a crisp jab. Eikmeyer misses with a takedown and Davis counters with a nice low kick that buckles Eikmeyer's knee momentarily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Davis feints a jab promting Eikmeyer to slip. Davis then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Eikmeyer slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Eikmeyer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Davis counters with a left to the body. Eikmeyer looks winded! Davis scores with a nice head shot. Davis cracks Eikmeyer with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Eikmeyer looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Davis finish him?
Eikmeyer is rocked! Eikmeyer bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Davis comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Eikmeyer falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Eikmeyer was out before he hit the floor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Donny Davis! An intense looking Donny Davis took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I want to thank all you fans for coming out tonight, Milwaukee's Best for keeping my energized, the gang at Montreal Fighter's Gym, all of my loved ones back home, and Uncle Lar for letting me fight here in Montreal Fight Nights!! Thank you!! '.
