The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sykk misses with a straight right.
Nice defenses there by Mayhem.
Mayhem tries to counter by closing the distance.
Sykk throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Sykk takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mayhem is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Sykk misses with a left hand

and Mayhem counters with a shoot takedown. Sykk fights it but they end up in guard.

Sykk is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Mayhem presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Mayhem jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sykk walks away with a smile on his face. Mayhem gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Asmund Sykk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Mayhem.
Mayhem slips under a jab.
Mayhem throws out a counter right but Sykk avoids it with no problem.

Mayhem throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sykk tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mayhem is in Sykk's guard.

Sykk manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sykk slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mayhem working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Mayhem looks up at the clock and then as Sykk takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mayhem smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Sykk is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Mayhem is controlling him well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Asmund Sykk.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sykk, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
