Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Enrique Adame! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mario Filipovski! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Filipovski lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd cheers as Filipovski lands an impressive looking overhand right. Adame doesn't seem phased though. Filipovski misses with a few strikes there.
Adame fails to land the takedown. Filipovski wants to clinch. Nice sprawl there from Filipovski as Adame shoots in. Filipovski lands with a nice combination. Adame backs away looking to recover. Filipovski throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Filipovski throws a series of strikes that have Adame backpedaling.
Adame shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Filipovski sprawls well. Filipovski wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Adame gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Enrique Adame. That's going to take a lot out of him. Filipovski misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adame throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Filipovski shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Adame's guard. Adame is working an open guard so Filipovski takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Filipovski scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Adame doesn't seem bothered though. Filipovski changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Adame throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Filipovski tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Adame is in Filipovski's guard. Adame is breathing heavily. Filipovski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Filipovski is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Filipovski wants to get back to his feet but Adame passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Filipovski looks like he's trying to stand up.
Filipovski is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Adame definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Still in half guard, Adame seems content to control. Filipovski is trying to stand.
Filipovski has hold of Adame's hands but Adame slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Filipovski trying to control from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adame with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Filipovski pushes Adame off looking to stand but Adame dives back in and keeps control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Adame feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Filipovski is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Adame dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Adame lands an elbow. Filipovski is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Adame is controlling him well. Filipovski taking a bit of punishment here - Adame scoring with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Adame has knee on belly and moves into mount. Filipovski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Adame. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Filipovski throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Adame tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Filipovski tries to control the position but Adame now has his back.
Adame working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Adame has good solid back control here. Filipovski tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mario Filipovski will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Adame pushes Filipovski up against the cage in a clinch. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Adame decides to pull guard. Adame keeping moving, preventing Filipovski from controlling successfully. Adame controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Filipovski wants to stand and escape but instead Adame has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Adame prevents Filipovski from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adame sitting in guard, not really doing much. Filipovski wants to stand but Adame is controlling the position. Filipovski is breathing heavily. Adame's corner is telling him to maintain position. Adame stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Filipovski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. A punch combination from Filipovski misses. Adame throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. A thudding body kick lands there by Adame!
Adame bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Adame tries for a kimura but Filipovski is defending well. Filipovski wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Enrique Adame overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Adame scores with a couple of short elbows. Adame grinds an elbow into Filipovski's temple. Filipovski tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Adame stalls from top position. Filipovski tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Adame sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Adame swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
