Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Don Stewart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Peter Angelov!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stewart lands with a thumping leg kick.
Stewart lands with a nice body punch.
Stewart connects with a crisp jab.


It looks like Peter Angelov has been cut.

Stewart closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Angelov did well to prevent Stewart getting side control.

Angelov tries to kick Stewart off but Stewart keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Stewart lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Angelov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Angelov pushes Stewart off but Stewart dives into side control.

Angelov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Angelov pushes Stewart away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Stewart gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Angelov is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Stewart goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Angelov has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Stewart but great work by Angelov.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Angelov tries to stand but Stewart is controlling his head.
Stewart has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stewart manages to get back to half guard.
Stewart keeping hold of Angelov's head, controlling as best he can.
Angelov is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stewart regains full guard. Nicely done.
Angelov tries to stand but Stewart is controlling from the bottom.

Stewart is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Angelov defends well.
Angelov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stewart is proving hard to escape from.
Stewart tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stewart is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Angelov wants to stand but Stewart has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Angelov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stewart has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Angelov has managed to get both his arms back between Stewart's legs - danger averted.

Angelov won't allow Stewart to sweep him here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Stewart holds on and takes a little breather.

Stewart is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Angelov defends well.
Angelov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Angelov is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Stewart has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Angelov is looking to defend but Stewart has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Angelov! Stewart pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Angelov taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Don Stewart!
