Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lucky Day! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Crose McCringe! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Lou da Vinci and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Day lands a nice shot that snaps McCringe's head back.
McCringe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Day's waist but Day gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McCringe off to one side. Day swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Day misses with a hook. McCringe shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. McCringe wants to work for an arm triangle but Day is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Day keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. McCringe is looking for a kimura here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McCringe trying to advance position but Day counters by regaining guard. Day keeping moving, preventing McCringe from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Day throws his legs up looking for a submission but McCringe uses it to pass to side control.
McCringe tries for a kimura but Day is defending well. Day is looking to reverse the position. McCringe landing strikes. McCringe passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Day! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Day is working to get back to half guard.
Day's coaches at The Factory have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. McCringe swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Day is now in McCringe's guard. A big mistake from McCringe there, giving up the dominant position! Day postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Day pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McCringe is keeping the position for now. Day forces his way into half guard. Day seems to be working for a kimura but McCringe defends the submission attempt. Day tries to pass the half guard into mount. McCringe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. McCringe trying to control from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. McCringe trying to keep a closed guard but Day is proving a slippery customer.
McCringe wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. McCringe is trying to keep Day in close.
Day wants to pass the guard but McCringe is keeping the position. McCringe is adopting a defensive guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. McCringe is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Day presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Day manages to break the clinch.
McCringe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. McCringe with a lazy takedown attempt and Day counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Lucky Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crose McCringe. McCringe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. McCringe avoids a punch combination nicely.
Day keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McCringe throws a right and a left that Day avoids nicely. Day throws a shot to the body.
No luck for McCringe with that takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lucky Day will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Nice sprawl there from Day as McCringe shoots in. Day catches McCringe with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! McCringe shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Day defends it nicely. Day connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed McCringe momentarily.
McCringe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Lucky Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crose McCringe. Day lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Lucky Day is winning the standup battle so far. McCringe fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A quick step to the side and Day tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. McCringe tries for a takedown but Day circles away easily and Day counters with a nice uppercut. Crose McCringe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McCringe dives in for a single leg takedown but Day sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. McCringe uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Day.
McCringe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Day as he jumps to the side. Day swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCringe takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. McCringe misses with a takedown and Day counters with a lovely straight right hand! McCringe with a lazy takedown attempt and Day cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Day misses with a looping right. Day is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McCringe can do to turn this around? McCringe shoots in for a takedown but Day shows good takedown defense. McCringe slips a jab and a cross from Day.
Day pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Horrible takedown attempt by McCringe or perhaps it was just good defense by Day, which made it look bad. A little feinted left hand from Day on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Day throws the left hand but McCringe avoids the punch easily. McCringe misses with a takedown attempt - Day sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Day is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Day throws the left hand but McCringe avoids the punch easily. McCringe changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. McCringe shoots in but no luck this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCringe tries for a takedown but Day circles away easily and Day counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Nice shot by Day. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Day is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McCringe. McCringe moves out of range of the strikes. Day connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Day misses with an uppercut. McCringe saw that one coming. McCringe feints the counter takedown. Day is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. McCringe shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Day's guard. Day has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCringe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. McCringe wants to pass the guard but Day is keeping the position. Day not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Day had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McCringe defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCringe scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Day working for a triangle but McCringe defends it easily.
Day looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

McCringe throws a big right hand that misses. McCringe wants to pass the guard but Day is keeping the position. McCringe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. McCringe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McCringe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. McCringe is looking to work some ground and pound but Day has wrist control. McCringe trying to control the position from guard on top but Day is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Day is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McCringe defends well. McCringe stands and throws Day's legs to the side, diving into side control. Day is looking to regain half guard here but McCringe keeps moving and retains side control. McCringe working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lucky Day dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
