The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danieles looking to score a takedown here. Thomas is defending well but Danieles drives through and ends up in Thomas's guard.
Danieles controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Danieles landing some decent shots from guard.
Thomas controls Danieles momentarily but Danieles frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thomas is trying to control the position but Danieles postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Danieles seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Thomas for as long as he can get away with.

Thomas pulls Danieles in close to prevent any damage.
Thomas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Danieles working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Thomas's head.
Danieles is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Danieles has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Danieles postures up in Thomas's guard and throws a big left but Thomas blocks it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Danieles lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Danieles gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Danieles uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Thomas.
Danieles changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Thomas shoots in but Danieles avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Thomas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Danieles swivels and escapes.
Thomas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nathan Danieles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Thomas.
Danieles gets a takedown into half guard.
Thomas manages to get to full guard.

Danieles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Thomas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Danieles 's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Danieles content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Thomas has locked up a guillotine! Thomas's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Danieles is holding on here and Thomas must be using up a lot of energy. Danieles has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Thomas gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
