PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Guts Berserk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Claudio Rodrigues (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodrigues has chosen Weight of my Pride as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Guts Berserk !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Claudio Rodrigues!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rodrigues looking to score a takedown here. Berserk is defending well but Rodrigues drives through and ends up in Berserk 's guard.

Rodrigues darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Berserk is looking for a sweep. Rodrigues is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rodrigues drops back looking for a leg! Berserk is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Berserk manages to kick Rodrigues off! Rodrigues jumps back into Berserk 's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Guts Berserk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Claudio Rodrigues.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rodrigues shoots for a double leg takedown but Berserk sprawls well. He's pushed Rodrigues's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Berserk tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Rodrigues manages to circle out of the way.

Berserk goes for a double leg but Rodrigues avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rodrigues continues to drive forward.

Rodrigues postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Rodrigues drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rodrigues jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rodrigues is looking for a kimura but Berserk is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rodrigues to get the leverage.
Berserk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rodrigues on the ground.

A thudding body kick lands there by Berserk !
Berserk lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rodrigues backs up against the cage.
Berserk shoots in looking for a takedown. Rodrigues tries to sprawl out of it but Berserk keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rodrigues manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Berserk sets himself, and Rodrigues steps forward looking for the clinch! Berserk avoids it this time.

Berserk 's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Berserk has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rodrigues is trying to keep an underhook but Berserk manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Rodrigues manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Berserk keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Rodrigues is looking to clinch but Berserk is avoiding it.
It looked like Berserk was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Rodrigues is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Berserk is trying to escape and Rodrigues transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Berserk is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rodrigues! Very nice indeed!

In his post fight interview, Claudio Rodrigues started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
