Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Max Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Heilman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Max Lawson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Heilman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawson shoots in but no luck this time.
Heilman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lawson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Lawson shoots in for a double leg but Heilman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lawson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Heilman has closed the distance and engaged Lawson in a clinch.
Lawson fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Lawson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Heilman keeps control of Lawson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Heilman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lawson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lawson has gone for a leg lock! Heilman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lawson's guard.

Lawson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Heilman is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Lawson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Heilman's back instead.
Heilman rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heilman is looking to control Lawson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Heilman avoid being mounted?

Lawson is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Heilman has managed to free his arm - good work.
Heilman wants to get back to full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Heilman is controlling Lawson's trapped leg to prevent Lawson from advancing to side control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ryan Heilman just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Heilman closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lawson fails to pull guard.
Lawson looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Heilman manages to break the clinch.
A chopping leg kick lands by Heilman.
No luck for Lawson with that takedown attempt.
Heilman cracks the inside of Lawson's front leg.
Nice straight punches there by Heilman. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Heilman.
Lawson walks into a stiff left hand from Heilman.
Lawson takes a kick to the side of the head.
Heilman fails with an attempt to clinch.
Heilman feints and then cracks Lawson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lawson down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Heilman dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Heilman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lawson sprawls well initially but Heilman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ryan Heilman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Heilman moves into range and clinches up with Lawson.
Heilman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Lawson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lawson manages to end up in side control.
Heilman sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Lawson is thwarting Heilman's attempts to control the position.
Heilman is looking to improve his position.
Heilman is holding on to half guard well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lawson is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Heilman is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
