Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wladyslaw Napletek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maxim Rostov! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rostov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rostov leaves Napletek with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Rostov keeps the fight on the outside. Rostov looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Napletek looks to land a combination but Rostov avoids it well. Rostov gets in close and instigates a clinch. Rostov wants to get back to striking at distance but Napletek won't allow it.
Rostov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rostov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Rostov with a nice head shot there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rostov showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Rostov lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Napletek looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rostov gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Rostov drives through with a takedown into guard. Rostov trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Rostov's corner is telling him to maintain position. Rostov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rostov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Napletek has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rostov is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Napletek. Napletek is breathing heavily. Napletek takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Rostov controls the position. Rostov has knee on belly and moves into mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rostov controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rostov with a couple of short strikes. Napletek really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Napletek looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Rostov sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Rostov with shots to the head and body - Napletek looks very uncomfortable down there. Rostov landing strikes from the mount and Napletek is in trouble! Rostov working the ground and pound effectively.
Napletek is rocked! Rostov is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Napletek to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Napletek shrugs it off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Napletek is looking to improve his position but Rostov isn't that keen on the idea. Rostov controlling the pace for now. Rostov scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Napletek?
Napletek takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Oh Napletek is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rostov wants to finish this one by submission but Napletek is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rostov. Napletek seems to have got his legs back now. Napletek's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maxim Rostov dominated that round. That's time! Napletek's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Napletek. Rostov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Napletek has hold of Rostov's hands but Rostov slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Rostov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Rostov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rostov seems to be looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rostov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Napletek knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Napletek trying to control here.
Rostov decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Rostov shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Rostov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Napletek is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rostov is figuring out what he wants to do next. Napletek tries to kick Rostov off but Rostov keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Rostov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Napletek tries to get to full guard but Rostov has control of the leg. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rostov lands a nice short elbow. Rostov drops an elbow to the side of Napletek's head. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Napletek is defending against the submission attempts here by Rostov.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rostov decides to stand up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rostov rushes Napletek and presses him up against the cage. Rostov misses with the head strike.
Rostov leaning his opponent against the cage. Napletek is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rostov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Napletek jumps guard but Rostov turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wladyslaw Napletek. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rostov gets control of Napletek's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rostov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Rostov wants to stand and escape but Napletek is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maxim Rostov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Napletek with a lazy takedown attempt and Rostov counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rostov. Rostov tries to break the clinch but Napletek is controlling the position. Napletek is looking to break free of the clinch but Rostov has double underhooks. Rostov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Napletek is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Rostov wants a takedown.
Rostov is trying to push Napletek away but Napletek has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Rostov tries to circle away but Napletek has him pinned against the cage. Rostov jumps guard and drags Napletek to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Rostov pulls Napletek in close to prevent any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rostov is looking for a triangle but Napletek pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rostov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rostov keeping moving, preventing Napletek from controlling successfully. Napletek trying to move into half guard but instead Rostov has managed to sweep! Rostov wants to control from the top but Napletek keeps moving. Rostov stops Napletek from standing up. Rostov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rostov postures up.
Napletek wants to improve his position but instead Rostov has moved into half guard.
Rostov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Rostov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Maxim Rostov has got the better of the ground game so far. Napletek wants to control but Rostov is keeping busy and won't allow it. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rostov wants to pass to mount but Napletek is defending the position. Rostov content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Napletek wants to control but Rostov is keeping busy.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Napletek moves in looking to clinch but Rostov pushes him off. Napletek shoots for a takedown but Rostov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Rostov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Napletek pushes Rostov off but Rostov dives into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rostov stands up and beckons Napletek to his feet. Rostov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Napletek on his heels. He'll look to pass Napletek's guard now, I'm sure. Rostov controlling from the top position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that's the end of the fight! Maxim Rostov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rostov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
