Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azumah Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacque Sirven! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Nelson as Sirven shoots in. We've been informed that Sirven has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Sirven lands a nice shot that snaps Nelson's head back.
No luck for Sirven with that takedown attempt. A little feinted left hand from Nelson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Nelson scores with a sloppy right hand. Sirven should have avoided that one. Sirven dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Nelson. That did some damage! Jacque Sirven seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A swing and a miss from Sirven. Nelson throwing a counter right hand but Sirven manages to avoid it. Nelson misses with a body kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Sirven. Sirven scores with a decent looking hook. Sirven tries for a takedown but Nelson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Azumah Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacque Sirven. Sirven shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Nelson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson misses with an attempted mid kick.
The fighters circling - Sirven throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Sirven has a takedown stuffed. Sirven doesn't succeed with the takedown and Nelson counters with a three punch combo that has Sirven backing up. Sirven nods at Nelson to acknowledge the strikes. Sirven shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nelson sprawls well. Nelson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sirven gets slowly back to his feet. Nelson is looking for a counter combo. Nelson throws a jab when Sirven was well out of range. Nelson blocks a head kick by Sirven.
Sirven tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nelson swivels and escapes. Sirven closes the distance and clinches up with Nelson, looking for a takedown. Sirven pushes Nelson against the cage but Nelson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sirven gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Nelson. Nelson misses with an uppercut. Horrible takedown attempt by Sirven or perhaps it was just good defense by Nelson, which made it look bad. Nelson appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Nelson misses with a low kick as Sirven jumps back. Nelson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nelson throws a nice outside leg kick. Sirven's jab looks to have found its range, popping Nelson under the eye. Nelson misses with a jab, cross combination.

Nelson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sirven. Sirven just misses with a punch to the body.
Sirven blocks a head kick by Nelson.
Sirven with the counter takedown but Nelson avoids it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sirven showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nelson.
Sirven feints the counter takedown. Sirven tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nelson defends well and Sirven ends up having to push Nelson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Nelson scores with a punch to the head. The crowd cheers as Nelson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Sirven doesn't seem phased though. Sirven throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nelson sees it coming and avoids it easily. Nelson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Sirven. Sirven has his takedown stuffed and Nelson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Nelson thuds a left hand into Sirven's body. Nelson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Sirven looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Nelson works over Sirven's head and body with a nice combination.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sirven throws a jab but it's blocked by Nelson. Nice uppercut there from Sirven. Nelson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nelson tests Sirven's chin there with a solid looking shot. Sirven lands a head shot. Sirven throws a big shot that misses. Sirven checks a low kick from Nelson. Nelson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sirven. Nelson throws a leg kick but Sirven sees it coming and checks it nicely. Nelson loads up on a big right hand but Sirven slips the punch. Sirven rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nelson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Azumah Nelson dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Sirven steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nelson. Sirven misses with a wild body shot. Sirven throws a sloppy head kick and Nelson moves out of range easily. Nelson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A looping hook to the body misses from Sirven. Nelson does a little dance to reset his feet. Nelson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sirven can do to turn this around? Sirven throws a lazy head kick and Nelson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Nelson throws a wild body kick that Sirven sees coming a mile off. Sirven drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Nelson defends it well. Sirven takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Sirven misses with a wild body shot. It looks like Nelson has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sirven throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nelson is looking to counter punch. Nelson drops Sirven with a beautiful combination! Sirven stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Nelson is looking for the KO!
Sirven is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sirven with a poor takedown and Nelson counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.
