Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Selwoods! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Feer! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Selwoods as Feer shoots in. Feer looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Selwoods tries for a takedown but Feer circles away easily and Feer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Feer. Feer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Selwoods working for a triangle but Feer defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Selwoods is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Selwoods looking for a sweep. Not yet Selwoods, not yet. Selwoods working for a triangle but Feer defends it easily.
Selwoods is controlling Feer's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Selwoods working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Feer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Feer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Selwoods is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Selwoods tries to pass the half guard into mount. Feer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Feer is in trouble now - Selwoods has advanced to mount! Selwoods working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Feer is trying desperately to improve position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Selwoods looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Selwoods can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Feer is looking to escape. Selwoods is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Feer has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Selwoods moves to take his opponent's back. Selwoods has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Feer has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Selwoods is persistently looking for the submission but Feer is defending it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Selwoods working for the choke. Selwoods looking to break Feer's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Feer remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Selwoods will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Feer looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Selwoods tightening his grip on Feer, looking for the choke. Selwoods working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Feer is doing well to defend. Selwoods seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Feer is forced to tap and this one is over!
