Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Erik Wreck! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jon Katsumaga! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wreck dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Katsumaga. That did some damage! Wreck tries a head kick but it misses.
Katsumaga dives in for a single leg takedown but Wreck sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Wreck throws a nice outside leg kick. Jon Katsumaga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wreck gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Katsumaga to score an easy takedown into full guard. Katsumaga is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Katsumaga tries to free his leg and advance position but Wreck is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wreck working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Katsumaga. Katsumaga is taking a break and basically stalling. That's one minute gone in the round. Wreck looking to sweep here. No luck so far. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Katsumaga not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Katsumaga fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wreck manages to avoid it. Wreck throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Wreck has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad The Island in the buildup to the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Wreck connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Katsumaga shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wreck is trying to defend but Katsumaga finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Katsumaga is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Katsumaga raining down shots from the mount! Katsumaga with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Wreck knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Katsumaga on the ground. Katsumaga looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Katsumaga content just to control the position here. Katsumaga lands a couple of good shots and Wreck has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Wreck trying to control the action but Katsumaga just sinks the hooks in. Katsumaga somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Katsumaga scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Wreck is looking for a way out. Katsumaga gets his hands free as Wreck looks to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Katsumaga dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Katsumaga shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wreck as he avoids it easily. Katsumaga fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Wreck has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Katsumaga shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Katsumaga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wreck swivels though and keeps the full guard. Katsumaga has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Katsumaga stays in close to Wreck's body and controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Katsumaga throws a big right hand that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Katsumaga wants to pass the guard but Wreck is keeping the position. Wreck is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Katsumaga is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Wreck misses with a head kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Wreck throws out a leg kick but Katsumaga moves out of range and Wreck only half commits. Katsumaga pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Erik Wreck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wreck throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Katsumaga fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wreck manages to avoid it. A counter left hand to the body from Wreck misses its target. Katsumaga has his takedown stuffed enabling Wreck to counter with a crisp jab. Katsumaga with a poor takedown and Wreck counters with a stiff right hand. Erik Wreck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Katsumaga. Katsumaga tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wreck swivels and escapes. Katsumaga takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Wreck counters with an outside leg kick.
Katsumaga is breathing heavily. Katsumaga moves in looking to clinch but Wreck pushes him off. Katsumaga avoids the head kick by Wreck.
Katsumaga misses with a left hand and Wreck counters with a one-two to the body. Wreck pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Katsumaga back to the cage. Wreck follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Katsumaga avoids the head kick by Wreck.
Wreck tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Katsumaga drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wreck defends it well. Katsumaga clinches up against the cage. Katsumaga manages to break the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Katsumaga looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wreck was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Katsumaga rushes Wreck and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Katsumaga has Wreck pushed against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Katsumaga breaks from the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Katsumaga has closed the distance and engaged Wreck in a clinch.
Katsumaga breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Erik Wreck dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Katsumaga shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wreck napping and manages to drive through into side control! Wreck throws Katsumaga to one side and escapes! Wreck pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Katsumaga tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wreck defends well and Katsumaga ends up having to push Wreck into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Wreck throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wreck catches Katsumaga with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Katsumaga shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Wreck counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wreck lands a nice shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round. Katsumaga doesn't succeed with the takedown and Katsumaga takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Erik Wreck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Katsumaga. Katsumaga takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wreck lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Katsumaga at a distance.
Katsumaga fails with a takedown attempt. It looked like Wreck was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Wreck misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Katsumaga.
Katsumaga tries to clinch but Wreck moves out of range. Wreck digs a good hook to Katsumaga's body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Katsumaga closes the distance and clinches. Wreck's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Wreck lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Wreck lands with a thumping leg kick.
Katsumaga has taken the fight to the clinch.
Katsumaga has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wreck after a bit of a struggle. Katsumaga tries to pull guard but Wreck holds him up against the cage and eventually Katsumaga drops back down to his feet.
Wreck manages to break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Katsumaga misses with the combination.
Wreck looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. A looping hook to the body misses from Wreck. Katsumaga does a little dance to reset his feet. A head kick by Wreck misses and Katsumaga counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Katsumaga pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Katsumaga moves to clinch but Wreck breaks away enabling Wreck to counter with a crisp jab. Wreck slaps away a takedown attempt from Katsumaga, before circling back to the center of the mat. Katsumaga with a poor takedown and Wreck counters with an inside leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A decent looking body kick lands there for Wreck. Wreck's jab looks to have found its range, popping Katsumaga under the eye. Wreck with a nice cross. Wreck lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wreck connects with a good right hand that stumbles Katsumaga. Katsumaga circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Wreck fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Katsumaga looks to land a combination but Wreck avoids it well. Wreck lands a jab. Wreck throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And that's the end of the fight! Erik Wreck showed his dominance in that final round. I think Wreck has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
