Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bart Curry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Gero! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gero misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Horrible takedown attempt by Curry or perhaps it was just good defense by Gero, which made it look bad. Curry changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gero looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Gero struggling a bit here. Gero pushes Curry away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Curry gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gero is looking for a sweep. Check out the look on Curry's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Curry is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Gero will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Curry wants to control but Gero is keeping him busy. Curry working the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gero tries to buck Curry off but Curry is having none of it. Curry with the ground and pound but Gero regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Gero is trying to stand back up but Curry is controlling him
Gero looking for submissions off his back. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Curry lands a nice short elbow. Curry misses with a head shot. Gero uses the momentum to regain guard. Gero wants to stand and escape but Curry is having none of it. Gero keeping moving, preventing Curry from controlling successfully. Curry would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Curry throws a big elbow that misses. Curry postures up and lands a big shot to Gero's brow. Gero wants to stand up but Curry is controlling him. Curry looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Curry working some strikes from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Curry sitting in guard, not really doing much. Curry throws an elbow that misses. Gero uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Curry's guard. Nice move by Gero! Gero prevents Curry from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Curry swivels though and keeps the full guard. Curry has a closed guard, preventing Gero from standing up. Gero trying to control the position from guard on top but Curry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Curry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gero's corner is telling him to maintain position. Gero looks winded!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Curry is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Curry moves into the clinch. Curry jumps guard.
Gero showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Gero pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Curry is keeping the position for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Curry is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gero is aware though and is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bart Curry dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gero throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gero throws a left and a right that both miss
and Curry holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. The referee calls for Gero to work.

Curry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Curry taking a breather. Gero landing knees to the head.
Curry is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gero to keep the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gero tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Curry gets control of Gero's arms and successfully pulls guard. Curry will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Curry is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Curry is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Curry slips a nice elbow through Gero's hands, connecting with Gero's forehead. Gero desperately trying to maintain half guard. Gero is breathing heavily. Gero is looking for a sweep. Curry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gero is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Curry scores with a couple of nice shots. Gero tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Curry is thwarting Gero's attempts to control the position. Curry decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Curry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gero with a lazy takedown attempt and Curry counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Gero trying to control from the bottom.
Curry takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Curry seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gero for as long as he can get away with. Bart Curry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Curry takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Curry is looking for a kimura here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Curry scoring with strikes to the body and head. Gero flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Curry seems to be working for a kimura but Gero defends the submission attempt. Curry wants to stand but Gero has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Curry fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bart Curry. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gero tries to keep at a distance but Curry has taken the fight into the clinch. Gero being controlled against the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Curry controlling the action here for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bart Curry dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Curry tries to close the distance and clinch but Gero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gero fails with a takedown attempt. Curry stuffs the takedown. Curry gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gero counters with a left and a right that stings Curry. Curry has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gero being controlled against the cage. Gero takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Curry will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Gero up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Curry changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gero fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gero darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Gero moves nicely into side control. Gero stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Curry throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gero tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Curry is in Gero's guard. Curry is looking to stand up but Gero won't let him. Curry trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Gero being controlled here, momentarily. Curry trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gero looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Curry looking to pass the guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Curry fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gero, pushing him back against the cage. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Curry takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Gero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Curry goes for a double leg but Gero avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gero continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bart Curry. That's going to take a lot out of him. Curry closes the distance and clinches. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Curry is struggling to control the position. Curry decides to pull guard. Gero wants to stand and escape but instead Curry has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Gero keeping full guard, as Curry tries to pass. Gero wants to sweep but no luck. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Curry lands a couple of elbows. Nathan Gero has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bart Curry is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Curry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Bart Curry showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Curry, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
