Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Thomas Black! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Carano! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Black shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Black wants to control from the top but Carano keeps moving. Black is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Carano keeping moving, preventing Black from controlling successfully. Black pushes down on Carano's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Carano manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Carano wants to stand but Black is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Black looking to sit in guard and control but Carano gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Black looking to control.
Carano decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Black fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Carano fails in his attempt to clinch. Black swats away the attempt to clinch by Carano. Carano tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Carano doesn't succeed with the takedown so Black counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Carano wants to hit a switch here but Black passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Carano there! Carano tries to reverse the position but Black maintains control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Black tries to control but Carano wriggling away. Black controlling the pace for now. Black looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Carano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Black tries to control but Carano wriggling away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Black controlling his opponent. Carano wants to control but Black is having none of it. Black has hold of Carano's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Carano manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Thomas Black dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Carano wants to clinch and Black counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Black looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Black forces his way into half guard. Black is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carano moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Black trying to control but Carano is working from the bottom. Carano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Black gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Black advances position into side control! You can see the frustration on Carano's face as Black controls the position. Carano reaches up around Black's neck trying to control. But Black takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Carano! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Carano is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Black celebrates the victory with the fans!
