Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Melo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pawel Guba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Melo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Max Webster- Toronto Tontos. Pawel Guba has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Eddie Melo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Pawel Guba!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Phil Schofield and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guba moves forwards but Melo connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Eddie Melo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Guba takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Guba's coach down at Kung Fu Fighting Club ($120 entry fee) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Guba's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Melo clobbers Guba with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Melo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Guba walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Melo scores with a head kick. Guba tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Guba takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Melo lands a head kick. Guba smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Melo's corner calls for a 1-2. Melo obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Melo throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Melo lands a leg kick that knocks Guba off balance momentarily.
Some wild striking there from Guba.
Melo lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Melo lands an overhand right.
Guba stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Melo.
The fighters circle momentarily. Melo darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Melo jabs Guba right on the nose. Guba blinks but takes it well.
Melo scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Melo scores with a hook to the body. Guba takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Guba moves forwards but Melo connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Melo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Guba looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Guba shoots in looking for a takedown. Melo tries to sprawl out of it but Guba keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Melo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Guba throws a predictable looking body shot
and Melo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Guba misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Melo throws a nice inside leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Melo.
Guba throws a left and a right that both miss
and Melo counters with a left to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Melo looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Melo connects with a looping right hand.
Melo is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice body kick from Melo.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Melo.
Melo scores with a sloppy right hand. Guba should have avoided that one.
Melo lands a head kick. Guba smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

and Melo counters with a nice body kick.
Melo paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Melo lands a leg kick that knocks Guba off balance momentarily.
Melo cracks Guba with a right hand to the side of the head.
Melo with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Melo clobbers Guba with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Guba is rocked!
Melo walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Guba drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Melo swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Guba's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eddie Melo!
