Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Colin Bonner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan John! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John misses with the combination.
John shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than John was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! John is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bonner's shoulder. That is not cool. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bonner tries to get back to half guard but can't. A lull in the action here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. John has knee on belly and moves into mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bonner is trying desperately to improve position. Bonner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for John on the ground. Bonner taking shots to the head. The referee warns Bonner that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Bonner is rocked! John working away from the top, dropping strikes. Oh Bonner is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! John tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Bonner has given up his back. Will we see John going for some submissions?
John is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Let's hope that John has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. A helpless look comes across Bonner 's face. He knows he's trapped as John lands a series of unanswered strikes. The ref steps in to stop the fight and this one is in the books!
