Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George Manson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Brown! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown shoots in but no luck this time. A jab from Brown finds it's way through Manson's defenses. Manson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Brown jabs Manson to the body, keeping him at a distance. Manson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Manson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Manson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Manson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brown circles away quickly and effectively. Manson tries a head kick but it misses.
Brown is looking to clinch but Manson is avoiding it.
Brown moves in looking to clinch but Manson pushes him off. Horrible takedown attempt by Brown or perhaps it was just good defense by Manson, which made it look bad. Manson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Eric Brown has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown stuffs the takedown attempt from Manson. Manson gets slowly back to his feet. Brown clinches with his opponent.
Manson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Manson goes for a double leg but Brown avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brown continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Manson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brown wants to clinch. As Brown looks to move away, Manson throws a big counter combo but Brown just gets out of the way. Brown tries to keep at a distance but Manson has taken the fight into the clinch. A shot in the inside from Manson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brown can't get the takedown.
Manson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Manson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Manson wants it to stay on the feet. Brown gets caught flat footed, as Manson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Brown is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Brown has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Manson doesn't defend quickly enough and Brown has managed to lock this one up! Can Manson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Brown on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Eric Brown!
