The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laurier moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Alonso Durant has been cut.
Durant shoots in for a double leg but Laurier sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Laurier keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Durant drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Durant walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Alonso Durant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Laurier scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Laurier is looking to take a break and control but Durant is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Durant really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Laurier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Durant is looking for a sweep.
Laurier wants to lay and pray for a moment but Durant keeps working.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Durant can do anything to dispel that myth.
Laurier looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Laurier will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Laurier cracks Durant with a big elbow.
Durant tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Laurier is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Durant is trying to escape and Laurier transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Durant is forced to tap! Nice work there by Laurier! Very nice indeed!
