The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. McCann is looking to clinch. Sato feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: McCann (0) vs (2) Sato McCann can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sato controls the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sato pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McCann is keeping the position for now. Sato advances to half guard. Well, if Sato is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sato is looking to advance position but McCann won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fighters are battling for position here. McCann manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Sato content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCann is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Sato rolls with it to try and escape but McCann cranks on the arm and Sato is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dale McCann! |
