Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Manny Puno and JJ Redmond. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; JJ Redmond!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Puno is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Redmond's half guard.

Puno wants to free his trapped foot but Redmond is holding on for dear life with his legs.

We've been hearing that Puno has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Redmond has his foot on Puno's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Puno works his way back into a safe position though.

Puno seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Redmond for as long as he can get away with.
Redmond is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Puno holds on and takes a little breather.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Puno's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Puno got a little sloppy there for a moment and Redmond has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Puno has managed to get both his arms back between Redmond's legs - danger averted.

Redmond working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Puno doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Puno manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Puno is taking a breather. Redmond says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Redmond can do anything to dispel that myth.

Redmond tries to lock up and control but Puno gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Puno slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Puno has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
