Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anton Newcombe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus Pappas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anton Newcombe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gus Pappas!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pappas connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.


It looks like Anton Newcombe has been cut.
Newcombe avoids the head kick by Pappas.
Pappas tests Newcombe's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Newcombe throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pappas misses with a wild combination.
Pappas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pappas will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Newcombe throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Newcombe looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Nice straight punches there by Pappas. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Pappas.
Pappas misses with a wild combination.
Newcombe shoots in but Pappas avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Newcombe throws a leg kick but Pappas checks it.

Newcombe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pappas was covering up waiting for the punch and Newcombe finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Newcombe won't allow Pappas to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pappas working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Newcombe.
Pappas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Newcombe slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Newcombe working for a triangle but Pappas defends it easily.

Newcombe is working an open guard so Pappas takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Newcombe will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Newcombe misses with a hook. Pappas ducked under it nicely.
Pappas tries to work over Newcombe's front leg with a kick but Newcombe checks it.
Pappas takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Pappas tries a low kick but Newcombe avoids it.
Newcombe takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Newcombe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pappas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Newcombe somewhat.
Pappas connects with an inside leg kick.
Pappas moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Newcombe throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pappas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Newcombe is in Pappas's guard.

Pappas seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Newcombe wants to get back to full guard.
Pappas working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Newcombe tries to get to full guard but Pappas has control of the leg.
Pappas thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Newcombe's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Newcombe makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Newcombe.
Pappas trying to control the position from guard on top but Newcombe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Newcombe wants to sweep but no luck.
Pappas postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Newcombe is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Newcombe wants to sweep here but Pappas controlling him for the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pappas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gus Pappas dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Anton Newcombe's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Pappas takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A punch combination from Pappas misses.
Newcombe throwing a counter right hand but Pappas manages to avoid it.
The fighters circling - Pappas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Pappas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pappas cracks Newcombe with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Pappas takes a swing at Newcombe's ribcage but misses.
Pappas looks to score with a jab to the body but Newcombe is just out of range.
Newcombe throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Pappas looks to throw the jab but Newcombe is out of range.
Pappas dips to his left and cracks Newcombe with an uppercut!
Gus Pappas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pappas smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Pappas drops Newcombe with a big left hand! Newcombe is injured, injured bad! Pappas jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
