PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joey Troublefield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Troublefield comes to the cage accompanied by Hell Song - Sum 41. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joey Troublefield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Stout!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stout shoots and misses
and Troublefield counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Stout has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Stout shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Troublefield is trying to defend but Stout finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Stout wants to work for an arm triangle but Troublefield is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Troublefield has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stout is working away from the top position though.

Stout is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Troublefield is trying to get back to full guard.
Stout is looking to take a break and control but Troublefield is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Stout looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Troublefield with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stout.
Troublefield throws a leg kick

and Stout counters with a shoot takedown. Troublefield fights it but they end up in guard.
Stout cracks Troublefield with a solid left hand.
Troublefield keeping moving, preventing Stout from controlling successfully.
Stout slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Joey Troublefield has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Stout.

Stout shoots in and drives through. Troublefield sprawls well.
Stout fails to land the takedown.

Troublefield closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stout to the mat! Stout manages to get full guard.
Stout is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Stout wants to stand up but Troublefield is controlling him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Troublefield distracts Stout with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Stout can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Troublefield controls the pace.

Stout looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Troublefield is fending him off so far but Stout persists. Nope, Troublefield circles away and we're back to standing.

and Stout counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Stout is pushing down on Troublefield's leg trying to pass to half guard. Troublefield is fighting to maintain full guard but Stout has managed to sneak the leg through.
Troublefield makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Troublefield.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Stout feints and as Troublefield raises his hands in defense, Stout changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Troublefield not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stout throws an elbow that misses. Troublefield uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Stout's guard. Nice move by Troublefield!

Troublefield thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Troublefield wants to take a breather but Stout is having none of it.

Stout manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Stout closes the distance and clinches up with Troublefield, looking for a takedown. Stout pushes Troublefield against the cage but Troublefield circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Stout creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stout thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stout is looking to take a break and control but Troublefield is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Troublefield manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Stout missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Troublefield gets full guard.

Troublefield wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Stout is now in half guard.

Sam Stout comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Stout has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
