PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Shieff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Wu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Shieff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Charlie Wu!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shieff throws a nice inside leg kick.
Wu showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shieff.
Wu closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shieff circles away.
Shieff really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wu throws a hook but Shieff avoids it easily.
Shieff dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Wu. That did some damage!
Shieff misses with a low kick.
Shieff scores with a decent looking hook.

Wu drives through with a takedown into Shieff's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Wu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Wu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
It looks like Wu might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Wu prevents Shieff from getting back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Shieff preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Wu is looking to work some ground and pound but Shieff has wrist control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Wu engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wu looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Wu with a flurry of punches that miss.
Wu trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Shieff knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wu on the ground.
Wu connects with a couple of short punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wu is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Shieff keeping moving, preventing Wu from controlling successfully.
Wu with a flurry of punches that miss.
Wu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Wu throwing strikes from guard but Shieff blocks nicely.
Shieff keeping full guard, as Wu tries to pass.
Wu stands up over Shieff, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Wu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wu trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Wu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Wu with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Wu seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Let's hope that Wu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Wu postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Wu trying to control but Shieff is working from the bottom.
Wu landing with the ground and pound.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wu scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wu working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Shieff will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wu stays in close to Shieff's body and controls the position.
Shieff has momentary wrist control but Wu slips an elbow through the middle.


Shieff is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Wu dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wu walks into a straight right hand from Shieff.
Oh Shieff is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Wu lands a huge takedown. Shieff is out but the ref is slow to react and Wu lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Shieff lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Charlie Wu!
