Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mats Thoreson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Sloan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cameron Sloan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mats Thoreson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cameron Sloan! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thoreson is looking to clinch. Sloan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Thoreson. Thoreson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sloan pushes Thoreson away with a front kick. Thoreson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sloan manages to escape and get back to his feet! Thoreson has a takedown stuffed. Thoreson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sloan counters with a nice body shot. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Thoreson lands a slapping body shot.

Thoreson appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Sloan tries to bum rush Thoreson with a series of wild strikes but Thoreson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloan scores with a jab to the jaw. Nice cross by Thoreson. Sloan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thoreson. Sloan falls off balance throwing a combination
and Thoreson counters with a low kick, right behind Sloan 's knee. Sloan misses with a straight left. Thoreson throws a leg kick but Sloan sees it coming and checks it nicely. Thoreson misses with a wild combination.
Cameron Sloan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sloan checks a leg kick nicely. Sloan looks to score with a jab to the body but Thoreson is just out of range. Thoreson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sloan. Sloan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Thoreson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sloan connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Thoreson scrambles back to his feet. Thoreson throws a body punch but Sloan moves out of range. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sloan! But no joy. Sloan throws out a loose jab but Thoreson uses good head movement to avoid it. Sloan throws a low kick, looking for Thoreson's leg but Thoreson calmly moves out of range. Sloan misses with a wild body shot. Sloan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thoreson.

Sloan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Thoreson. Thoreson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sloan manages to avoid it. Thoreson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mats Thoreson. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fight stays on the outside here - Thoreson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Thoreson tries to clinch but Sloan moves out of range. Cameron Sloan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thoreson throws a body punch but Sloan moves out of range. No luck for Thoreson with that takedown attempt. Sloan leaves Thoreson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thoreson throws out a leg kick but Sloan moves out of range and Thoreson only half commits. Sloan scores with a punch to the head. Sloan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Despite the aggression on Sloan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Sloan lands a two punch combo.
Sloan fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Thoreson is out of range. Sloan slips a straight right by Thoreson. Thoreson dives in and grabs Sloan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sloan pushes down on Thoreson's head and hops out. Thoreson throws a right and a left that Sloan avoids nicely. Sloan throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Thoreson swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Sloan lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Thoreson throws a sloppy head kick and Sloan moves out of range easily. Sloan fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Thoreson has managed to clinch.
Thoreson is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Sloan misses with a short punch on the inside. Our sources have told us that Thoreson has been working on his elbows in the gym.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sloan lands a nice uppercut. Sloan tries to work over Thoreson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Sloan pushes off an throws an elbow but Thoreson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Thoreson pressing his opponent against the cage. Sloan tries a body shot but Thoreson blocks it.

Mats Thoreson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sloan looks to land a combination but Thoreson avoids it well. Thoreson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sloan now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Thoreson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Thoreson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sloan was well out of range. Poor timing from Thoreson. Sloan misses with a combination

Thoreson darts in looking for a takedown but Sloan gets double underhooks and turns Thoreson into the cage. Sloan appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Thoreson defending well as Sloan loads up on a big left hand. Sloan throws an overhand right that lands on Thoreson's shoulder, as Thoreson tries to avoid the shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thoreson tries to clinch but fails miserably and Sloan counters with a nice kick to the body. Thoreson throws a combination that misses and Sloan counters with a nice uppercut. Sloan cracks Thoreson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Thoreson tries for a takedown but Sloan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mats Thoreson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sloan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Cameron Sloan seems to be getting the better of the standup. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A clash of legs there as Thoreson blocks the low kick. Thoreson wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thoreson manages to avoid it. Thoreson is looking to wear down Sloan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Sloan just misses with a punch to the body.
Crunch! Sloan slams his shin into Thoreson's torso. Thoreson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Sloan connects with the punch. Sloan lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Sloan. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Sloan lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Thoreson backs up against the cage.

Sloan goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Thoreson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sloan to the mat! Sloan manages to get full guard. Thoreson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sloan wants to get back to his feet but Thoreson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Thoreson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Thoreson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloan is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Thoreson is controlling him well. Thoreson decides to stand back up. Thoreson steps back and let's Sloan get back to his feet. Sloan misses with the body kick and Thoreson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sloan thinking. Thoreson swinging wildly here.

Sloan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Thoreson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Thoreson lands a leg kick that knocks Sloan off balance momentarily. Thoreson is looking to chop away at Sloan's legs. Sloan throws a nice looking combination but Thoreson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Thoreson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Thoreson throws a head kick but Sloan moves out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thoreson. A little jabbing left from Sloan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Danga de danga de dang - Sloan scores with a four punch combination! Sloan has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Sloan throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

He's got his arms around Sloan's waist but Sloan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thoreson off to one side. Thoreson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Sloan throws a right and a left that both miss. Sloan tries to sprawl but Thoreson drives through with a takedown into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sloan can do anything to dispel that myth. Sloan makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sloan throws a shot from downtown. Thoreson moves away and avoids it. Thoreson gets cracked there but stands up to it.

That's one minute gone in the round. A good leg kick by Thoreson. Sloan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Sloan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Thoreson. Sloan throws a body kick that misses and Thoreson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Thoreson.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thoreson. Sloan throws a lazy body kick and Thoreson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Thoreson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sloan was well out of range. Poor timing from Thoreson. Sloan stuffs the takedown attempt from Thoreson. Thoreson gets slowly back to his feet. Sloan is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mats Thoreson. Thoreson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Thoreson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Thoreson appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Thoreson avoids the body shot from Sloan.
A punch combination from Sloan misses. Sloan connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Sloan looks to score with a jab to the body but Thoreson is just out of range. Sloan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thoreson moves away. Thoreson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sloan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

A very excited looking Cameron Sloan made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
