Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Emmett Mcfadden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek McCall! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcfadden gets a clinch. McCall pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. McCall throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcfadden was covering up waiting for the punch and McCall finishes the takedown easily into guard. McCall tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcfadden is retaining full guard. McCall trying to control but Mcfadden is working from the bottom. McCall would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mcfadden knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McCall on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcfadden not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McCall sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mcfadden really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. McCall trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mcfadden's guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Mcfadden slaps away a takedown attempt from McCall, before circling back to the center of the mat. McCall throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mcfadden tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McCall is in Mcfadden's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcfadden keeping moving, preventing McCall from controlling successfully. Mcfadden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McCall controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. McCall wants to control from the top but Mcfadden keeps moving. McCall scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcfadden has a closed guard, preventing McCall from standing up. Mcfadden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mcfadden is pulling down on McCall's head to control his posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. McCall doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mcfadden counters with a lovely straight right hand! McCall fails with a takedown attempt. Emmett Mcfadden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek McCall. Mcfadden shoots in but McCall avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. McCall closes the distance and clinches. Mcfadden breaks the clinch.
McCall takes a swing at Mcfadden's ribcage but misses. Mcfadden closes the distance and clinches up with McCall, looking for a takedown. Mcfadden pushes McCall against the cage but McCall circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. No luck with that takedown attempt from Mcfadden. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mcfadden stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mcfadden wants it to stay on the feet. Mcfadden shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCall but McCall pushes him off and we're back to square one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek McCall dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Mcfadden shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McCall as he jumps to the side. A nice side step and McCall releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Mcfadden dives in for a single leg takedown but McCall sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. McCall misses with a takedown attempt and Mcfadden connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. McCall misses with a takedown and Mcfadden counters with a nice double leg into guard. McCall pushes Mcfadden off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcfadden stuffs the takedown attempt from McCall. McCall gets slowly back to his feet. A quick step to the side and Mcfadden tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Emmett Mcfadden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek McCall. Nice takedown defense from Mcfadden. No joy for McCall on that attempt. Mcfadden throws a big counter combination but McCall scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCall shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. McCall missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mcfadden is trying to control but can't.
McCall takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. McCall throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. McCall stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Mcfadden to get to his feet. McCall fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mcfadden manages to avoid it. Mcfadden throws a big counter combination but McCall scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcfadden walks forward, straight into a front kick from McCall. McCall dives in for a single leg takedown but Mcfadden sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Mcfadden shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McCall pinned against the cage. McCall gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mcfadden misses with a takedown and McCall counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McCall. Mcfadden drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McCall gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mcfadden tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCall wants a takedown.
McCall wants to break the clinch but can't.
McCall has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mcfadden jumps into guard, dragging McCall to the mat.
Mcfadden wants to stand up but McCall is controlling him. McCall drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McCall jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. McCall decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mcfadden, up you get! McCall lands a big head kick that sends Mcfadden to the canvas! McCall follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Derek McCall!
