Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Espinoza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hunter Sobczak! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sobczak dives in for a single leg takedown but Espinoza sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Sobczak moves into the clinch. Espinoza taking a breather. Espinoza looks to throw an elbow but misses. Espinoza lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Espinoza misses with an elbow over the top. Espinoza with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Espinoza breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sobczak has taken the fight to the clinch.
Espinoza is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sobczak is keeping busy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sobczak pushes Espinoza back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Espinoza swings wildly with an uppercut but Sobczak uses good head movement to avoid it. Sobczak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hunter Sobczak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sobczak misses with a takedown attempt and Espinoza counters by moving into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sobczak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sobczak misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Espinoza.
Espinoza tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Sobczak manages to circle out of the way. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sobczak is defended easily by Espinoza. Rene Espinoza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hunter Sobczak. Sobczak rushes Espinoza and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sobczak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. No joy there for Sobczak, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sobczak stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sobczak wants it to stay on the feet. Sobczak tries to counter with a clinch but Espinoza shakes him off and moves away. Espinoza throws a sloppy head kick and Sobczak moves out of range easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sobczak misses with a wild combination.
Espinoza keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Sobczak closes the distance and clinches. Sobczak blocks the elbow strike.
Sobczak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sobczak throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Espinoza.
It looks like Rene Espinoza has been cut. Sobczak fails to land with a series of punches.
This has been an exciting period of action! A right-left combo lands from Sobczak.
Espinoza is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sobczak connects with a superb combination that knocks Espinoza out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Sobczak before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Espinoza!
