Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dom Willis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dom Willis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gustavo Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Carvalho throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Carvalho swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Willis.
Carvalho throws a half hearted mid kick.
Carvalho throws a jab but it's blocked by Willis.
Willis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Carvalho.
Carvalho lands with a thumping leg kick.
Willis keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Carvalho.
Willis on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Carvalho drives through with a takedown into Willis's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Willis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Carvalho throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carvalho is standing up over Willis. Willis looks to escape but Carvalho dives into side control.

Carvalho is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Willis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Willis parries the strikes from Carvalho easily there. Carvalho is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Willis to escape.
Carvalho wants to control but Willis is keeping him busy.

Carvalho tries to score with some ground and pound. Willis controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Willis is pressed up against the cage. Carvalho has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Willis down to the mat. Willis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Dom Willis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gustavo Carvalho.
Nice defenses there by Willis.
Willis walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Willis is taking a breather. Carvalho says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Carvalho is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Willis pulls his head out easily.
Willis is pressing down on Carvalho's thigh, looking to free his foot. Carvalho is holding on for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Willis slips a nice elbow through Carvalho's hands, connecting with Carvalho's forehead.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Willis connects with a nice short shot to Carvalho's temple.

Willis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Carvalho doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Willis.
Willis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carvalho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Willis lands a nice short elbow.
Carvalho is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Carvalho checks a leg kick.
Willis slips under a jab.
Carvalho throws a hook but Willis blocks it.
Carvalho throws the left hand but Willis avoids the punch easily.
Willis tries to clinch but Carvalho moves out of range.
Carvalho cracks the inside of Willis's front leg.
Willis avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Willis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Carvalho blocks a body shot from Willis.
Carvalho drops down looking for an ankle pick but Willis pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Willis is looking to clinch but Carvalho is avoiding it.

Willis darts in and clinches Carvalho up against the cage.
Willis lands a body shot in the clinch.
Willis misses with a hook from the clinch.

Carvalho ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Carvalho no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Our spies down at at LOD: Club Pain inform us that Carvalho has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Willis in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Carvalho is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Carvalho bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Willis's guard.

Carvalho takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Carvalho throws a big elbow that misses.
Willis has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Carvalho stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Willis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
