Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jason Kupa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Decon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evan Decon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Kupa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Evan Decon! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kupa. Decon's coach down at 3Band MMA ($500/week) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Decon's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Kupa shoots in but no luck this time. Kupa is looking to clinch but Decon is avoiding it.
Kupa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Decon keeps control of the position for the meantime. Decon wants to control but Kupa is keeping busy.
Decon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Decon. Decon has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Let's hope that Decon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Decon being controlled here, momentarily. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Decon is on top in guard.
Kupa is pulling down on Decon's head. It's preventing any offense from Decon, at least for the moment. Decon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kupa is keeping the position for now. Kupa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Decon is one step ahead there. Kupa is working hard here to advance position. Decon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kupa trying to control the position.
Kupa is adopting a defensive guard. Decon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kupa is keeping the position for now. Kupa is controlling Decon's posture. Decon advances position into side control! Decon tries for a kimura but Kupa is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A bit of a lull in the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kupa can't do much from the bottom here. Decon is trying to get an arm triangle but Kupa is defending well. Decon advances to full mount. Decon looking for a guillotine from mount but Kupa is having none of it. Kupa tries to hold on but Decon postures up. Decon landing punches. Decon looking to control but Kupa is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Kupa is working to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kupa is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Kupa just holding on. Decon sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. It looks like Decon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Kupa wants to hold on but Decon pushes him away. Decon content just to control the position here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Decon is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kupa to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kupa shrugs it off. Decon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kupa is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Evan Decon dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Kupa closes the distance and clinches up with Decon, looking for a takedown. Kupa pushes Decon against the cage but Decon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Decon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kupa moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kupa tries to close the distance and clinch but Decon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Decon leaves Kupa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Decon wants to counter with a clinch but Kupa pushes him away. Kupa misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Kupa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Decon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Decon is taking a breather. Kupa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Kupa tries to get to full guard but Decon has control of the leg. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Decon slows the pace down in half guard. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Decon.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kupa is trying is best to control the position here. Decon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Decon moves nicely into side control. Kupa tries to get back to half guard but can't. Decon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Decon in side control, throwing shots but Kupa defends.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Decon controls the position. Kupa manages to get back to half guard. Decon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kupa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Kupa slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Kupa is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Decon moves into full guard.
Kupa stays in close to Decon's body and controls the position. Decon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Decon will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
We've been hearing good reports from Kupa's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Kupa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kupa tries to get out of the position. Still in half guard, Decon seems content to control. Yet more stalling tactics from Decon. Kupa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Decon is working away from the top position though. Kupa preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Decon stalling. Kupa wants to get back to full guard. Decon slows the pace down in half guard. Decon is trying to control the action in half guard but Kupa is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Decon with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Decon is continuing to stall. Kupa is trying to maintain the position but Decon is very close to passing his half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Decon wants to control but Kupa is keeping him busy.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Evan Decon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Decon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kupa is looking to escape. Decon looking to control and managing it successfully. Kupa holds on for dear life. Decon has control of Kupa's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kupa regains control of the situation pretty easily.
