PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willy Alan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Frank Reynolds!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Willy Alan!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reynolds tries to clinch up.
Reynolds steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Alan.
Alan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Reynolds half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Alan rushes Reynolds and presses him up against the cage.

Alan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice takedown defense from Reynolds. No joy for Alan on that attempt.
Reynolds tries a head kick but it misses.
Alan steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Reynolds.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reynolds takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Reynolds blocks a head kick by Alan.
Reynolds throwing a counter right hand but Alan manages to avoid it.
Alan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Reynolds stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Alan lands a body shot.

Reynolds darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Reynolds thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Alan's head.
Reynolds is nestled in close to Alan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Reynolds lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Reynolds thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Alan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Alan is pressing down on Reynolds's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Reynolds trying to control the position from guard on top but Alan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reynolds lands a couple of digs.
Reynolds pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alan is keeping the position for now.
Reynolds lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Reynolds scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Reynolds working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reynolds postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Alan keeping moving, preventing Reynolds from controlling successfully.
Reynolds loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Alan looking to control.
Reynolds won't allow Alan to get back to his feet.
Reynolds stopping the sweep attempt from Alan.
Reynolds working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Alan keeping full guard, as Reynolds tries to pass.
Reynolds is working Alan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Alan tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Reynolds has gone for a leg lock! Alan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Reynolds's guard.

Alan is looking to work some ground and pound but Reynolds has wrist control.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Reynolds holds on and takes a little breather.
Alan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alan is fighting to break Reynolds's control of his arms but Reynolds is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Reynolds will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Alan moves out of range as Reynolds strikes.
Alan cracks Reynolds with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Alan shoots in and drives through. Reynolds sprawls well.
Reynolds takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Alan gets tackled into the cage by Reynolds. Reynolds maintains the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Reynolds pulls guard effortlessly.
Reynolds looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alan is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reynolds has his foot on Alan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alan works his way back into a safe position though.

Alan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Reynolds, up you get!

Alan throws a sloppy head kick and Reynolds moves out of range easily.
Reynolds tries to bum rush Alan with a series of wild strikes but Alan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Reynolds avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Reynolds is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Reynolds shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alan defends it nicely.
Reynolds tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alan paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Alan goes for a double leg but Reynolds avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reynolds continues to drive forward.

Reynolds closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alan did well to prevent Reynolds getting side control.

Alan kicks off Reynolds and gets to his feet.
Alan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reynolds sprawls well. Reynolds wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alan gets slowly back to his feet.
Frank Reynolds has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willy Alan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fight stays on the outside here - Alan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Reynolds closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Reynolds ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Reynolds no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Alan wants to control from the top but Reynolds keeps moving.
Reynolds has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Alan throwing strikes but missing.
Reynolds on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Reynolds tries to get out of the position.
Alan wants to control from the top but Reynolds keeps moving.

Reynolds is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A close second round but Willy Alan will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Reynolds seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Frank Reynolds overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Reynolds thows a huge punch but Alan dodges it nicely.

Reynolds takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Reynolds scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Reynolds drops an elbow to the side of Alan's head.

Reynolds is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Reynolds seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Reynolds wants to work for an arm triangle but Alan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Reynolds is trying to work for a kimura but Alan is defending well.
Reynolds wants to take a breather but Alan is having none of it.
Alan looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nice strikes from Reynolds there.
Reynolds is stalling here. Alan is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Reynolds seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Alan has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Alan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reynolds keeps working.

Reynolds can't do much from the bottom here.
Reynolds is looking for a sweep.
Reynolds is not content to let Alan control the position.
Reynolds is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Reynolds regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reynolds gets back to full guard.
Alan stops Reynolds from standing up.

Alan drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Reynolds manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Alan has Reynolds in his guard.

Reynolds stands up over Alan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reynolds is working Alan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Reynolds showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Reynolds has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
