The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrd misses with a takedown
and Petrov counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Byrd throws a nice outside leg kick.
Byrd misses with a body shot
and Petrov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Petrov connects with a right hand. Byrd shakes it off.
Horrible takedown attempt by Byrd or perhaps it was just good defense by Petrov, which made it look bad.
Petrov is looking for the big counter here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head kick by Byrd misses
and Byrd takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Petrov lands a head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Byrd has his takedown stuffed
and Petrov counters with a left and a right that stings Byrd.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cleveland Byrd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Byrd doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Petrov counters with a three punch combo that has Byrd backing up. Byrd nods at Petrov to acknowledge the strikes.

and Petrov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

It looks like Cleveland Byrd has been cut.
Byrd tries to get into range but Petrov steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Byrd! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Petrov scores the big KO victory!
